Platform sharing does have some risks, especially in this market segment.

Can we first define what is truly meant by the term - Budget Car?

Porsche has the highest profitability of all the manufacturers out there. I doubt they are too worried about rushing a cheaper product to the market.

did you miss out hearing about them running out of money and how they needed vw to buy them out for less then the loans they took out?

No I did not miss the news, however you obviously missed the common knowledge that per car, Porsche makes a higher profit than any other automaker. My point was that why would Porsche want to dilute their image with a car like this?

I'd rather my stimulus money goes to them than to the GM. At least I know Porsche will pay it back!

As for the GM stimulus comment, VW, who just bought Porsche out of insolvency, has a significant state ownership share. Unions sit on the board.

What's your point?

All of the "luxury" brands are going to have to adapt to a world where leasing is not as prevalent, and Americans are saving money, and living within their means.

There will be cheaper Benz, Lexus, BMW, Cadillac, and on and on.

Mid-range vehicles like Buick and Acura may do very well in a more "restrained" market.

Budget Car: List price---10,000 - 30,000 bucks. Now is Porsche willing to that low?
