Best Shots Yet Of Audi's 450hp RS5 Leak Out On the Web
These are the latest spy photos of Audi's hotly-anticipated RS5 Coupe that is expected to celebrate its world premiere at the next Geneva Salon in March of 2010. Compared to the S5 upon which it is based, the flat-black prototype you see pictured here is distinguished by a new front bumper with larger and more pronounced side air inlets, the honeycomb grille and the single-outlet tailpipes that replace the S5's two smaller outlets on each side of the rear bumper.

Furthermore, the black panels on the front and rear fenders of the test car clearly indicate that the RS5 will get a wider body with flared arches harking back to the original Quattro coupe as well as to the current RS6 saloon and Avant models.

If only some cars came in Matte black especially the RS5 or the M6 for me

They seem to be quite the rage in central london right now.

I have seen two 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged and 1 Bentley GTC and a Porsche Turbo Cab all sporting Matte Black Paint.

All parked in the streets around Grovesnor Square.

Few M5s around here with Matte Finish too.

Good for Audi. I grew tired of auto journalist comparing the S5 with the M3. But how much will it cost?

yes, that is definitely the case prior, but I believe they have realigned their product line recently...

The only problem with Audi, and don't get me wrong, I am a fan of Audi (and a driver of one as well) is that their designs are getting a little generic as it gets incorporated across the line. The A5/S5 looked awesome when it came out, but it seems a little boring now (imo)

That's kind of par for the course, Thierry. The good thing about Audi's understated (boring to some) and evolutionary design is that when it gets old it does so gradually. In general, that's been the hallmark of German design and why the Bangle era of BMW will go down in history like bell bottoms.

allevier:
you are absolutely right. German designs are rarely flamboyant and radical, allowing it to age gracefully. I absolutely agree with you. Point taken. IMO, I just think that perhaps they should not try to incorporate the A5/S5 styling queues onto every model.

I think the A7's design language will vary the product mix just as the A5 peaks (if it hasn't already). That said, it's still gonna look like an Audi.

The S5 and soon to be RS5, one of the best looking Audis ever...

$100k anyone?

Forget the price. The design is so repetitive it killed the awesome-looking-when-it-came-out A5!

With BMW's horrid profit results they don't have the money to invest in a high-performance, miniscule-selling, M3 CSL.

The RS5 will certainly be as fast, but more than likely faster than BMW's M3 due to its 30 horsepower increase over the RS4, reduced weight versus the RS4 (2-door coupe vs. 4-door sedan), and ADS as well as Sport Differential systems which were not on the RS4.

The RS4 has been tested to be as fast as BMW's M3.

If this truly is a V8 I hope that Audi achieves that power through normal aspiration. A 4.0+ litre turbocharged engine that makes approximately 450hp isn't all that impressive or efficient. Especially considering the phenomenal motor in the previous RS4, which made 420hp from an NA 4.2L V8. 100hp/litre now that's admirable engineering!
