Mercedes-Benz chooses Magna to manufacture SLS AMG body
While customers have threatened to pull out of their contracts due to Magna International Inc.’s impending takeover of Opel, it got a boost of confidence from Daimler AG which is actually its fifth-biggest customer.

Daimler submitted a huge order of aluminum bodies for the upcoming Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, giving Magna some assurance that it would not pull out business from it. Magna disclosed that the aluminum bodies would be built at the Magna Steyr unit based in Austria ’s Graz . Incidentally, it’s also where the Mercedes-Benz G-class SUV is built. In a statement, Magna co-CEO Siegfried Wolf said that it takes pride from being the only supplier in Europe that’s able to make a body made only of aluminum.

I was just about to boost you... till I took a second look at that picture. And I'm afraid to say this super conservative super car is slowly growing on me.

As awkward as I first originally thought. The car is slowly growing on me. I'd much rather have an original 300SL Gullwing as any real car fan would. That car is epic and is one of the most desirable original super cars in the world. Any car collector would love that in their garage. Now for this SLS there is no doubt it will be a extremely fast car. While I would have branched off from the SLR design and do some more refinement Mercedes went the conservative way which I also respect. It's a special market most definitely. This car is not for everyone. I wonder if the SLS will be hyper car royalty like the SLR 722 (probably not).

The Viper isn't as boxy upfront like the SLS nor does the SLS resemble the Viper IMO. These childish comments need to stop...

Has a lot of cues from the origonal Gullwing with squared off headlights. From the photo [front] has a roof line similar to a corvette.
