BMW's Head Designer Goes From Whipping Boy to Guru

I don't understand why competitors would copy such a nasty butt! I give BMW for taking such risks, but I guess any news is good news.

Acura's RL has a similar rear. Audi, thankfully, continues its "never follow" schtick.

Bangle may have started a fire in the industry, but it is translating into a fire sale, with regard to Z4's at BMW. Sexy = Curves....and with all of those strange sharp lines, the Z4 is anything BUT sexy. Good design is timeless...look at any of Paul Braq's designs. They still look great. Will the same be said of Bangle's designs 20 years from now?

Yes, let's keep this clean and constructive. Knowing history is one thing, but what your eyes see and how it computes in your head is yours, for better or for worse. I have a penchant for Audi's (leased 3, current car an '06 A8), so I like the understated exterior, benchmark interior and Quattro. There will always be room for improvement, and the industry as a whole will continue their song and dance to get our money, which is great!

Any bold new design in early stages will invite a lot of criticism, neverthless to say chris bangle's designs are modern and cutting edge.Compare the new 7 with the older one,the new car is clearly such a leap from the old school BMW designs ,and makes the previous generation car looks a decade old.

All bmw (7, and 5 series) models with iDrive were rated 2/5 in features and accesories, and features and intruments.

Compare it to any acuru, lexus, or infiniti.

I like JD power because its people who actually own the product that are reviewing it. Not some guy that was rating the best vacuum last week now wants to rate cars.

Lets not forget that Bangle is responsible for these three current blockbusters: The Range Rover, Rolls Royce Phantom, and the Mini. He was responsible for their designs while under BMW. Ford took over land rover after the current RR model was designed. Mini and Rolls are still under BMW.
