The Spies pick the WORST concepts at the 2006 Detroit auto show

Now that the Detroit show is over, everyone wants to know who the big winners and losers were in Detroit.

Category-Worst concepts at the 2006 Detroit auto show

Shown in order of disgust

1. Lincoln mkS- We were expecting something radical from Lincoln like the return of the Continental sedan to compete against the 300c. What we got is their attempt to take on the new Lexus LS. Monkeys will crawl out of their asses before that happens.

2. Lincoln mkS- Even though it's not a concept we couldn't help but think that the Mazda CX-7 across the booth from you looks ten times nicer for almost half the price. When that happens you know you've got a problem.

3. Buick Enclave- When did Buick become so polite and forgettable? I remember exciting nameplates like Wildcat, Riviera, Electra, etc....The Enclave is destined to be remembered in history right behind the Rendezvous. It's as boring as the drive from Indianapolis to Kokomo. Note to team Kerkorian...if you guys get to run the show, this guy Welburn has GOT to go. His stuff BLOWS!

the worst. At least Lincoln is moving away from its staid, boring looks and trying to find a unifying design theme between all the designs. The rear lights of the MKS reminds me though of a Pontiac G6 coupe....

..is trying to head in the right direction. GM gives us a Camero concept that may make production in '09, and a bunch of huge SUV's that I couldn't give a baby fart about.

I think that the styling of Lincoln actually IS radical: for Ford that is...

The Lincoln mkS looks like an Acura TL from the rear, I think it's better than any of their recent attempts, the Buick is horrid however. That's about as boring of a car company as you will ever see.

From the American car companies...

To think they can lure luxury car buyers away from the imports is downright laughable. This is like Fridays' restuarant trying to steal customers from the Four Seasons. Stick with your talents, Detroit: Building large, crude, poorly built behemoths with sub-par interior materials.

The only cutomers they're going to land are the diehard "Buy-American" types who don't mind having $2000 of their vehicle cost going towards excessive health care costs at those union-run plants.
