SPIED: Modded BMW M3 Testing On The 'Ring -- What Do YOU Think It Is?
BMW has something brewin' in form of a new or modified M3.  Wearing minimal changes such as a new front splitter and rear wing, this tester has just about everybody guessing.

Could it be a new M3 CSL? Perhaps a street version of the GT4 racer?

When I spoke with the former President of BMW M GmbH, Ludwig Willisch, he said there were no plans for an E92 M3 CSL.  But he never mentioned anything about a street GT4 racer.  Could be possible with Audi releasing R8 GT3 versions for the street...

What say you?

Are we sure it is BMW doing testing and not some aftermarket company or rich guy who has the money to make changes to said auto.

Its probably the street version the the GT4,or csl, it has a full roll cage, and no back seats. Also the emblems on the wheels are taped over...I dont think a ricer would tape up the wheels and remove the M3 badge. There is also an extra antenna on the trunk, and a wire that runs from the front lip into the bonnet..maybe to record downforce levels.

They are modifying the package after the destuction that the IS-F gave it.

lexsucks, name one single review or comparison test where the IS-F destroys the M3! or at least point out one area (with facts please) where the IS-F destroys the M3. I prefer the M3, but i am still, for some reason, able to give the lex credit for a very good first shot, and be thankful because this will only make the next M3/C63/RS5/IS-F even better!
maybe because i'm a regular guy not a pubescent insecure loser like you!

I was so distracted by lexsucks idiotic comments that i forgot to comment on on the actual subject. BMW has updated the E36 M3 more than once actually, so why not this time around? especially given that they are more under fire than ever, what with the RS5 taking its time to come out, not to mention all the other excellent competition...
As they say, racing enhances the breed!

lexus is going to be making a coupe version of the IS-F and it's stated that just with the new LSD in the 2010 model SEDAN IS-F, its more than 2 seconds faster around Fuji Speedway than the 09 model. But this is more than likely the GT4 race car you could buy and use for racing. Why would the CSL have a full roll cage? Or a rear wing and front splitter? Either it's a mule for an upgraded M3 or it's the GT4 street version.
