2009 OC Auto Show-So Close To The Happiest Place On Earth, Yet SO Far From It.

2009 OC Auto Show-So Close To The Happiest Place On Earth, Yet SO Far From It.
The happiest place on earth (Disneyland) is approximately less than a mile away from the Anaheim Convention Center, where the 2009 OC Auto Show is being held.

2009 OC Auto Show

But once inside the center, the happy vibe that resonates outside disappears like a wizard in a Disney movie because:

1. The economy sucks so many people have pulled out and are not participating or showing new product
2. Even when things were good this show mysteriously garnered little attention even though 99.9% of all great car trends in the last 25 years have germinated within a 200 mile radius of this hotbed.

That said, a couple cars of note here...Acura ZDX production version that I surprisingly liked in its finished garb.

I think it's better looking (outside AND inside) than the Infiniti FX, its main competition.

If you're in the area, go see and tell me if I'm right or I should get a new Ray-Ban prescription.

Also, the Stingray concept is there from the Chicago Auto Show (Done outside of GM) and in my opinion is the best looking Vette since the 1963 split window fastback (Yes, it copies a lot of queues from it but who cares, it's bitchin'!)

I liked the tuned Lexus IS in their booth that was in Monterey and well as the performance modded 335 sedan in the BMW booth, although LOSE the side stripe on the car...brutal!

The Audi booth looked nice and had some sharp cars all dressed in white and there were a selection of Infiniti G37 convertibles to peruse.

The Cadillac Volt was there...er, Converj...

And many of the other usual suspects including the cute little Ford Fiesta.

Check out the nice selection of photos I put together for you, sit back and see the show and tell us your faves and naves from the gallery!

Accent and Fiesta are not in the same class. Hyundai's entrant in that arena is the smaller i20. But you already know that, right? I can understand that you are a Hyundai fan and all, but EVERY post you make doesn't have to reference a Hyundai, especially when one is not even shown in any picture above. I'll be the first to say that you are in fact doing the brand a serious dis-service by constantly doing this. People who would normally give it a shot and take a peek will likely be so annoyed they just start hating the cars as much as they hate you. Tone it down, dude.

Anyway, let me say something more relevant to THIS post. I agree with 001 on the 'Vette. Gorgeous indeed. Ford is gonna make a killing of the Taurus. It's doing well on its own, but that DUB model is pointing the car in the right direction. All they need is ONE South Georgia rapper or the other to display one properly hooked up in a music video and they will be trying to find hands to sell them. I saw an infomercial last night and I must say, seeing it in motion does it a LOT of justice.

Been to the OC show many times. Unfortunately, it is the LA Auto Show's mousy step-sister - ignored, avoided, and forgotten. Always was and always has been.

Yes, nearly all auto trends have been born within 200 miles of there, but 99% of those came from 60 miles north in LA.

I live about 14 miles from the Anaheim Convention Center, but I won't be able to be at the show this year.

BTW, this is the same place the Winter NAMM show is every year. That is where you will see all the rock stars and movie stars. The NAMM show is 3 times as big as any auto show.

BTW, is the Lotus Evora there?
