Fiat to drop Dodge brand from the European market

Fiat to drop Dodge brand from the European market
Fiat recently revealed that it has a new business plan and one of the changes believed to be implemented is the dropping of the Dodge brand from the Chrysler Group’s European line-up. We’ll know more when Fiat announces its plan sometime in mid-November.

The Dodge brand was launched in Europe 2006 but since then has failed to live up to its targets. In 2008, only 4,000 Dodges were sold in the UK. In addition, there are ambitious plans for the Chrysler brand. Fiat plans to move it upmarket similar to how it was regarded in the US as being even more prestigious than Chevrolet or Ford. Chrysler intends to use the RAM nameplate as a brand for its commercial vehicles, separating these vehicles from the Dodge line-up.

How can Obama let this happen? The failure of the American Auto industry is 100% Obamas fault.

No. The failure of the American Auto Industry is because of capitalistic greed.

It's not a big deal. All american brands are not good accept here in Europe. Cadillac, Dodge, Jeep, Hummer, Corvette all of them are not for europeans - they are huge, they've got too big engines, which drink too much petrol, there are no diesel engines and they are too expensive, because of import taxes and so on. Only Chrysler has some kind of success around here and especially PT Cruiser, 300C and Grand Voyager (Town and Country). And why should we pay overprice for this US brands when we've got Opel, Euro Ford, Seat, VW, Skoda, FIAT, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Renault, Peugeot, Citroen, Dacia, Mini, Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Vovlo, Saab, european Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Suzuki, Mazda, Mitsubishi, KIA, Hyundai which have special models for Europe and are made here too. We've got even korean Chevrolet (GM Daewoo) and I should not mention supersport and hyperluxury brands like RR, Lambo and so on.

I'm not saying they are better but all these brands think of european customers. They give us what we want, what we need, but american brands give us what they have and do not care what we want and need. That's the biggest mistake.

PS: Of course there are some US models which could be very well accepeted here in Europe if they put smaller petrol and some diesel engines on them. I'm talking about the new Ford Taurus, Ford Edge, Buick LaCrosse and Enclave. Even some japanese models made in America like Toyota Camry and Honda Accord Coupe, but these are 5-6 models from different brands and only if they put "european" engines on them.
