Ford to defeat Honda and take the second place in U.S. hybrid sales
Automotive News Data Center reveals that Toyota Motor Corp. continues to take the lead when it comes to US hybrid sales. And it doesn’t appear that Ford Motor Co. or Honda Motor Co. would be overtaking it anytime soon considering that it leads by an outstanding margin; it sells more than all of its rivals combined.

Toyota sold a total of 144,351 during the first three quarters of 2009. With Prius sales having recorded a drop of 20%, Toyota’s total U.S. hybrid sales fell 28%. Honda’s popular Insight and Civic hybrids contributed to its getting the No. 2 spot. It sold 29,958 hybrids during the first three quarters of 2009, an 8% increase compared to the previous year. However, Ford is threatening to get the No. 2 spot from Honda with a 73% gain in hybrid vehicle sales compared to a year ago.

I'm sure most of Toyota and Honda benefit from the awesome cash for clunkers program. Lets call it a wash.

Well Nissan, Telsa, and any automaker that wants money for hybrid gets money from the government. What's the point.

I would rather own the ford, The other cars are too small for a family, when I do a road trip and carry our clothing and whatever else we bring we are always at or above the carrying capacity of the little pathetic car (850lbs). I am sick of driving a small car, although I still like my civic, I would rather drive a larger car with better or comparable gas mileage with more carrying ability. All cars suck for this reason, that is why people buy suvs! Cars are great if you are single or have to drive because of the price of gas, sad.

Good for Ford it's great to see at least one US automaker making a comeback on their own will. They know the times changed and they knew they needed to expand their lineup to include hybrids (im not a fan of them though many people are) lets hope they can keep this upward trend.
