If YOU Are The CEO Of Chrysler Corp, Who Do You Axe? Chrysler, Dodge OR Jeep?

If YOU Are The CEO Of Chrysler Corp, Who Do You Axe? Chrysler, Dodge OR Jeep?
As 2009 progresses, it seems that it is becoming more apparent which U.S. manufacturers are proliferating, while others are failing.  For instance, Ford seems to have a leg up on the other two auto makers while Chrysler is on life support thanks to Fiat.

So, what's the next shoe to drop?

But more important than who's next is what can they do to attempt to side-step the issue?  Although the partnership with Fiat is a good start, to say it is going to bring the company back to fruition and out of the grave is optimistic at best.

When looking at the breakdown at Chrysler Corp., it is clear as day that its portfolio is holding one too many brands.  So, who will give the manufacturer the most return on investment? Who will have the next groundbreaking vehicle?  With what we know offhand, forget finances, what unit has had the most successful models?

Weigh in!

Kill Chrysler, Dodge has the Ram, Viper, Charger, Challenger, Caravan, etc. They just need a solid replacement for the Avenger and I guess the Nitro. Chrysler has nothing more than the 300, although they do have good things potentially in the pipeline. Obviously keep Jeep.

uh no. drop dodge, for now. dodge has just been split into 2 brands (dodge cars, ram trucks). at this point, keep chrysler and rebuild the brand. content & refinement are the characteristics that chrysler can build on. the brand can also highlight the entire company by pushing more upscale products better than dodge. of course, they would have to offer a descent performance trim for eash model.

make special-order vipers & begin production of the firepower variant. restart development of the me-412.

chrysler has to build momentum with its brands' strongest attributes. ram is commercial/light duty trucks...consider the rampage concept.

I would drop Dodge in the group because that can free up money to help Chrysler develop some higher quality luxury cars. They seem to lack all the essentials that Cadillac have to create a serious contender to any entry level. All they offer is the size but no refinement, something this market needs. Jeep should stay. Their cars have always been better than any of the other ones in the Chrysler Group. Viper of course should stay. Refine it more and perhaps add another model to their Viper nameplate. Either more expensive and more refined or less expensive so they have an entry level sports car. My .02

None of the Above...

It really makes NO Sense to kill Chrysler...What needs to happen is to stop the overlap between Chrysler and Dodge. No more Chrysler Minivans.. Let Dodge carry the Majority of the product line from a Charger size vehicle all the way down to the FIAT 500 size

Chrysler would have The 300 size,a larger car (Imperial..Not Chrysler Imperial..just Imperial) a mid-size platform that it would share with Dodge (the Chrysler 200c) and an Upscale SUV (Town & Country) all of the Chrysler platforms would be Rear Wheel Drive (and AWD options)

Also...If Chrysler had sold the line up with the same Diesel engines that they were sold with in Europe...They wouldn't be in the fix they are in now...So Chrysler needs to beg, borrow or KILL to get Diesels.

Last but not Least...Give Jeep a small PickUp..Smaller than anything sold in the U.S. today (studies have shown, that it would a "HomeRun")

This must be done...because Chrysler forced its Dealers to carry all 3 brands...separation of brand Identity is a must.

Trick question, none.
They need to be target market specific.
Chrysler- Stick to family oriented minivans and middle class american management.
Dodge- Stick to the work truck and fleet sales of work vans. Also, keep the edgy sports cars (vipers, chargers, etc.)
Jeep- Keep the niche alive! Subaru did a good job with the outback target market, they need to learn from that. no front wheel drive wannabe SUV's!!

What they should do is keep all 3. Sell Chrysler and Dodge at one dealer and separate cars for each. No rebadging. Sell Jeep at the same dealer.

very simple

Chrysler - luxury cars only

Dodge - add more family minivans/cuv & sport cars, also this should be the parent company, since the viper is the halo

Jeep - sport/off road cuv/suv only

Ditch none of them.

Chrysler should be the luxury brand with full and medium sized cars, all with rear or all wheel drive. No trucks. No vans. At least, for now. The point of this restructuring exercise is to resusitate, not scrape for sales.

Dodge should have predominantly front drive sedans, from mid-sized to micro. The trucks should be labelled Dodge as well and not some lame assed Ram stand-alone crap. Now is NOT the time to be creating brands because marketting costs would be hurtful. Viper should remain a Dodge, the way Corvette remains a Chevrolet. I would also take Viper back to its roots by getting rid of the bells and whistles it has gained, lower the cost (it really plays in dangerous grounds at its current price) and put the exhaust pipes back at the sides where they belong(teach your girl to enter and exit it properly!).

Jeep should have a lineup that speaks to adventure. I have never agreed with Jeep having any crossover vehicle, but if a way can be found to market such a model not as the rock-climbing Jeep, but as the beach-going, surf-board carrying type of thing, or something of the sort, then fine.

Many reasons to fight over Chrysler and Dodge, but definitely many reasons to KEEP JEEP! It has so much potential - great formula, great price, perfect car for all ages, ...simple and fun..., a car for the mass that can eventually evolve to be one of the safest, most fuel efficient car out there if enough care is given.

Jeep needs to go.
You want Chrysler to be equivalent to Cadillac/Audi/Lexus/Acura, etc.
And Dodge to be equivalent to Chevy/Ford/VW/Toyota/Honda,etc.

Keep jeep. Drop names Chrysler and Dodge. So have Jeep plus another brand with a new name, and hopefully new energy.

Keep Jeep, I own a 2009 Wrangler Rubicon that is awesome. Kill off the sebring make the 300 more upscale, kill charger and make the cop car just a stripper Chrysler 300 and keep "dodge" challenger as niche, keep Dodge Viper as a niche. Kill stand alone dodge dealerships.

It is rather simple really.

Drop Dodge, and build more Chryslers. Sell Chryslers at the price of a Dodge. Building One brand will lower costs. There can't be much difference in manufacturing costs to have a chrome grille cranked out insted of a dull silver one, it just plastic for heavens sake.

Sell the Dodge Viper and Challenger at Chrysler showrooms, or just put these two models under 1 High performance brand having only 2 cars, the 2 seater and the big muscle car with a back seat.

Drop Dodge SUVs and just build the Jeep brand. Convert Dodge Truck line to Sprinter or Sterling Brand.

The crrent line up of brands works well. Covers all of the bases. Chrysler to be upscale is good. Imperial to be total luxo with The Crown Imperial as the limo. Imperial and Chrysler at same dealership.[always worked well in the past] Dodge is the bread and butter. Viper as the Halo maybe two models, Charger [nice sedan] Challenger { hotrod srt8 along with the R/T and econo with penastar V6] Mini-vans full options to econo models with the Pt cruser [should have never been a Chrysler] as a niche for dodge [ or scrap the PT and bring back the magnum] and a small econo fiat 500. Jeep - enough said. The trucks being RAM is ok but could still be a Dodge. no Dakota just make a cool Jeep truck to fill the mid to small truck catagory. SRT Division for low volumn hot rods per catagory. Each division responsible for there respective outcomes and "let the games begin".

Kill them all. Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep is history and the sooner the dealers are rebadged to Fiat, the better.
