10 Most OUTRAGEOUS Truck Quality Problems of The Last Decade
A list of the ten most outrageous truck quality problems of the last decade.

From hoods flying open while driving down the road to rusting frames to spontaneous combustion, the number of quality problems that trucks from Ford, GM, Dodge, and Toyota have is really shocking.

The only truck without a major quality problem in the last 10 years is the Nissan Titan, and it's likely being discontinued.

I love that the Tundra tailgate and engine failure issues were not listed. Not that they rise to the level of some of the others, but if your web site is Tundra based you should probably come clean about all the Tundra issues. Also some of these issues could really be scapegoats for driver neglegence, really the GM antilock brake issue caused all those accidents? I bet half were people who were following too closely and then cried wolf when they found out there was an issue.

D'oh! I think you're right about the Tundra tailgate problem. That probably deserves to bump Ford's flame-throwing SuperDuty off the list. I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't even think about it. To be honest, it wasn't that common...but neither was the SuperDuty exhaust flame thing, so I think I need to adjust that.

Did you guys read the article. Tundra tailgate issues were right there, I guess you just looked right past so you could complain.

This absolutly amazes me. This goes to show you that first impressions are a huge deal. The only truck to not have a major quality problem/recal is the one that sells the least. The reason..the use of pour quality materials inside the cab. This truck excelled outside of the driver/passenger compartment and even that was upgraded only 2 years after it was first brought onto the market. The damage had been done at that point. It goes to show you that skimping on the important mechanical parts is a better strategy then skimping on the fit and finish of the interior. Here's to the Titan surviving and excelling in its next incarnation. Long live the endurance V8.

So the Titan's rear end shredding to pieces isn't a major problem?

I'm pretty sure that somebody on these very pages said a few days ago that Chevrolet Silverados were the worst trucks out there. This article is by no means comprehensive or scientific, but I only see one report of the Silverado giving any problems. It's clearly biased against the F150 which is the market leader, but still, I'd get the Chevrolet over either the Dodge or the Ford.

I don't think there's much evidence of bias against the Ford. You have to acknowledge Ford has totally screwed up the cruise control issue. However, like the first commenter said, the Tundra's tailgate failures (which I forgot) probably deserve to make the top 10. Ford has a lot of issues because they sell a lot of trucks - it's just the "law of large numbers" - not an attempt at bias.

Wait.....the top 10 list changed based on the opinions of posts on Autospies?!?! Does that make TundraHQ even less credible than Autospies?? How does this even qualify as an article?

"Hey wanna make up a list of our top 10 favourite cars that people can have sex in and post it on Autospies?"

"You can do that????!?!?|"

"Yep! Just post it on Tundraheadquarters first!!"

"Ok make sure you put the back of a VW as #!"

What's the point of your tirade? You didn't like the article, or you didn't think it deserved to be called an article?

No offense, but if you cruise this site looking for hard-hitting automotive news and insights, you're going to be disappointed a LOT. I changed the post because they were right - tailgates bending under normal loads is pretty freaking outrageous (and well-documented).

Relax - it's just a stupid list we did for fun.
