Volkswagen Moves To Take 49.9% Stake In Porsche
Volkswagen AG today said it would pay 3.9 billion euros ($5.8 billion) to take a bigger than planned 49.9 percent stake in Porsche AG as a first step to a full merger with Porsche Automobil Holding SE by 2011.

Europe's largest auto maker said it was making better than expected progress on cooperation projects between the two automakers.

VW supplies components for about a third of all Porsche cars, including bodies of the four-door Cayenne and Panamera models and has sought to expand this cooperation.

I hope they make Porsche Interiors nicer/less stingy Considering the FACT a base Porsche 911 doesn't even have as nice of an interior as a VW GTI!! This is not bad news Porsche needs a volume car company to make little shitzzleBoxes to confirm to future CAFE standards.

Your comment saddens me... considering that Porsche once stood as the brand to buy when you couldn't afford a Ferrari. I mean, seriously, they already have the Boxster and Cayman; how low can they go?

It frustrates me more than saddens to see what Porsche has become. There's nothing wrong with VW owning a huge stake of Porsche because behind the scenes the two families run the show regardless. Porsche has shown they are capable of making a deadly super car such as the Carrera GT. There also is nothing wrong with making less expensive cars that have comparable power and performance figures with Ferrari's and Lamborghini's. It bugs me that they have to go below a Boxster. The Cayman S in Canada runs over 100,000 so that market isn't a cheap market. If they want to reach below 80,000 dollars for an even lower Porsche they are setting themselves up for many disappointed fans. \

All I have to say is love live the CGT! the best car ever produced by Porsche alongside the iconic 911. I'll always remember Porsche for what it was and not for what it has become no matter how great their engineering still is.

At first glance your fact might actually be true. The Genesis has 375 horsepower and the Panamera has 400. With similar weights the two should have similar acceleration. But the Genesis has 375 little pony horsepower while the Panamera has 400 stallions horsepower which make it over a second quicker in the real world to 60 and in the quarter mile. You definitely get what you pay for.

The Panamera V8 is a fairly new engine.
