2010 Subaru Impreza WRX STI CARBON breaks cover
One of the latest creations from Subaru – the Impreza WRX STi Carbon made its official debut at the Tokyo Motorshow 2009. Based on the A-Line model, the new sport hatchback has carbon fibre roof, which gives the car better hp/weight ratio and lowers the center of gravity to maintain better traction and handling. Other main difference is the updated interior, which includes more luxurious materials delivering better comfort to passengers.

Besides the carbon fibre roof and the interior changes the new Impreza WRX STi Carbon now comes with 5-speed automatic gearbox, which precedent for the WRX STi models. Obviously the real hard-core fans wont appreciate it, but it is designed to deliver better comfort for ordinary customers.

There are two engines in the option list for Subaru Impreza WRX STi Carbon.

The first one is 2.0-litre turbo with 308hp and 422Nm of torque and the second one is 2.5-litre turbo with 300hp and maximum torque of 407Nm.

The new Subaru WRX STi Carbon will be unveiled for the audience at 24th October.

Price will be announced further this year.

Agree...Why put an automatic in an STi version? The people who can afford or want to ship out the money for an STi vs a WRX, only want manuals. If their going to do that why not put in a semi-auto or semi-dry "flappy paddle" gearbox instead of a 5 gear slushbox?

Good thing this thing is staying in Japan. Just wish we had that 2.0 here in the States with a 6sp M.

Not the most exiting looking car, the older ones look better, I like the lighter roof, but why wouldn't it come with the standard?

Not to sound like a fan but the sti has a close ratio gear box to help stay in the power ban in all situations around a circuit. The STI requires 3rd between 50-60mph. A competent driver should be able to shift well enough to do under 5 sec 0-60's.
The WRX requires 1 shift while the sti requires 2 making it easy to blame driver error or skill on the car.
