Mercedes-Benz Releases C63 AMG Performance Package Plus

Mercedes-Benz Releases C63 AMG Performance Package Plus
Enhanced driving dynamics ex factory for the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG: the new Performance Package Plus is an attractive optional extra that is designed to appeal to the power-hungry sports driver.

The Performance Package Plus increases output by 22 kW/30 hp to 358 kW/487 hp. As a result, the C-Class approaches the level of performance offered by C-Class DTM vehicles, which deliver 377 kW/500 hp. The Performance Package Plus is available for the saloon and estate models and includes an AMG high-performance braking system featuring composite technology on the front axle, a carbon fiber spoiler lip (saloon) and an AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather/Alcantara.

With the Performance Package Plus, the Mercedes C63 AMG accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and 0 to 200 km/h in 13.9 seconds. This beats the 336 kW/457 hp standard model by up to 1.2 seconds (0–100 km/h: 4.5 seconds; 0–200 km/h: 15.2 seconds). The top speed is 250 km/h (electronically limited).

The improvement in power output to 358 kW/487 hp is due to the AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine’s modified engine compartment: the forged pistons adopted from the new SLS AMG super sports car together with new connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft translate into a weight saving of three kilograms.

Reduced inertia boosts the agility and responsiveness of the uprated V8 engine, which is recognisable from the variable intake manifold painted in titanium grey. New engine management completes the powertrain measures in the Performance Package Plus for the Mercedes C63 AMG.

AMG high-performance braking system featuring composite technology

The Performance Package Plus braking system has been adapted to the enhanced driving dynamics. A new AMG high-performance braking system ensures greater stability when driving dynamically, with compound brake discs on the front axle and red painted brake callipers all round showing the AMG logo. The brake discs feature a composite design and are connected to an aluminium bowl to avoid temperature peaks. The connection between the disc and bowl is new: instead of the usual screw connection, the aluminium bowl is now connected to the brake disc via cast-in arms. The advantage is more homogenous temperature distribution on the brake disc.

A further identifying feature of the Performance Package Plus is the AMG carbon fiber spoiler lip on the boot lid (saloon). In the interior, the AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather with a grip area trimmed in Alcantara feels good, while at the same time making a striking visual impact.

The new AMG Performance Package Plus is available for Mercedes C63 AMG saloon and estate models and can be ordered now. The sales price is €7080.50 or €6426

(saloon/estate; prices include 19% VAT) with the market launch taking place in December 2009.

Extended appointments in black designo leather

New black designo leather as an optional extra will enhance the interior even further and covers the upper section of the dashboard, the upper door trim and the armrest on the centre console. This high-quality feature is available in conjunction with nappa leather appointments for €2856 (price includes 19% VAT).

The internationally successful Mercedes C63 AMG model

The Mercedes C63 AMG is one of the most popular vehicles in the Mercedes-AMG model range. In 2008, 8100 units of this high-performance car were sold worldwide. The Mercedes C63 AMG demonstrates its sports credentials in international motorsport as well as on the road. For example, the Mercedes C63 AMG estate is used as the official F1™ medical car and the Mercedes C63 AMG saloon acts as a safety car in the DTM German Touring Car Masters.

is it the king of the road or the king of straight line performance minus the handling. everyone knows mercedes builds a straight line performance car than an all around handling and performance car.

Eh, it HANDLES WELL. Its rivals just handle better.

It's not like you cannot round a curb with this car...

B7FAN : I know that hurts to you cause your only argument is BMW "will win on the track" But at the end you will spend all your time behind the AMG far away...Just cause your bimmer is not enogh for the challenge and sadly for you, there are more straight lines from A to B, that turning points, is a universal rule. Yes most BMW turns better cause they have less inertia (weight in case you can't understand)...and that's easy when a car is light, so light that have marginal security. (NHTSA in case you need the source). Finaly if I am not able to catch a bimmer for a few thenths or even one second on the track....I can live with that if that means a King on the Road.....sure you can live in the track, I can't.

listen Yonder7....I am a car enthusiats yes Mr Dumbass I know what inertia means you obviously dont know who your dealing with. save the Power Block educational stuff for someone who is interested because im not. and if you take a look all of my articles are not arguments about BMW....mERCEDES AMG's have been tested with motor trend, car and driver, AUTOBILD(thats a german car magazine for real enthusiasts) etc...etc...and all have said mercedes AMG builds some of the most powerful cars with lots of torque that dont handle well. I am probably one of the few that read worldwide car magazines and not just stuff from the states as most people do and claim they are enthusiast. this has been said for years now you had your head up your ass for how long now....and for your information my favorite car is the Mercedes AMG CL65 to me nothing comes close to the performance of this car unless your talking exotics. I love all cars (well mostly all cars) and just because I happen to love BMW's the most because of their reputation doesnt make me a BMW enthusiast......

so take a look at all of my articles before you go running your mouth ASS-U-MING things. I am a car enthusiast not just a BMW, AUDI, or MB specialists as most people are on here. So before you start running your

B7FAN: Hey do not be so sensitive, I apologize if I make you feel angry....I know most of people here is enthusiats and do not make them "Dumbass"...(unless you feel like). Regarding your statements: I love cars in general and if we have diferent oppinions that do not means that you are dumbass. A car enthusiat is the one that love cars in general, I like a MB, However I do not like the the current trend of the european manufacturers to make cars with specific "SOUND", for me is nice but just NOISE (nice noise), but as Mercedes Lover I miss those times when you were able to turn on a car and the only clue that you have about the running engine is the RPM indicator. As far as I test the cars Lexus is the King in this quality, cause their fit and finish is so perfect, that you barely hear the engine inside the cockpit. Even Rolls Royce have problems to reach such level of quietness and reliability. My Perfect car should be a car that drives as BMW with the power of a MB and the quietness and Reliability of a Lexus. To say that is not to say that MB does not drive well....(check the comment of Wimmer). Regarding your Favorite car CL65 also is my favorite, I have a Mercedes too but still not enough money to afford the Cl65, I hope you have one..it is great...I apologize if I offend you it was not my intention, just to argumet about cars is something that make my day cause as an engineer this is my hobby, so in the future I will continue writing my arguments, if you or any one answer may that will change my mind, but if you not show what you think you won't know what others think. And again I do not stick to a brand if other one have something better....At home I've 3 cars an STS, and MB and a Honda...the MB and the Honda are the best..just maintenance, the STS is the best for long trips. My favorite car of all times is not an MB..is a BMW 850 CSI. Sadly lately BMW designs are ugly (my personal opinion)...In fact I am worry about BMW cause if they disapper....competition will disappear and car enthusiats will pay the price with less options and bad cars. Audi have better chances right now, MB have Daimler behind them...I do not see who will help BMW in case they need...Lexus Acura and Infinity they are ok for now...only Germans and American manufacturers and British are in problems...Hey but take your arguments ready...as enthusiast, if I do not agree with you, have good argumets..I apologize but that does not means that I won't pull the trigger...>;-)

Well I guess I took it the wrong way....but the way you had it stated it looked like your comment had a lot of sarcasm in it....you happen to like my favorite car of all time which is the BMW 850 CSI beleive it or not I would still settle for an 840i/Ci that is a timeless classic like the MB SL300 gullwing.....and I didnt get offended I am just tired of people on here that only comment on their one car manufacturer that they like and thats it.

Some people need to open their eyes their are other cars out there beside AUDI, BMW, and MB but that seems to be the only argument on autospies especially BMW and AUDI. like I always said BMW has had a great reputation with their inline 6 engine and their M cars thats why I am such a big fan of them. but again i dont knock any other manufacturer because each are unique in their own way im not going to break it down to you but if your a car enthusiast you already know.

GreenPlease: I wish but is not gona happen. Their Philosophy about security and comfort will lead to heavy cars, may be light materials that leads to expensive cars (and everybody hates that). However BMW also is having that trend lately. Check the numbers of the new 7 series, heavier than the previous. The X6 is super heavy, specialy if you that is not so big when your are next to it, but drives as Katana...very sharp.

B7FAN; BMW 850 CSI , 840i/Ci any of those looks very contemporary...But most of the owners of those, are willling to sale. I like even more than the SL gullwing, and if I not wrong I belive it was one of the first V12 coupe..I love hiden lights as in the Corvette (which I still do not understand why they revomeve that design from the Vette)...We have very nice cars now, but most of them were designed in a wind tunel and that's all cars looks very similar. Misubishi Evo is one of the few that looks different.

GreenPlease: it is something to test, cause as far as I know this car does not have Air suspension, but still if the car is heavy the newton's laws will hit it in the same way...but may be your are right...and to show the fact just look at the X6M....it is a masterpice of engineering and it drives almost or in some cases better than some sport cars, and thats with 5000 pounds.....
