Gosh - I'm bored with the over-exposure of the new S Class and I haven't even seen one on the road yet. Its gonna age rapidly. . . unlike previous iterations of the S class.

By the way does anyone know if MB used any of the designers from Mitsubishi for the new S class - those front fenders / wheel arches look awfully like those found on Mitsubishi SUVs.

Speedy NYC, I agree with you. From pictures alone the new Lexus LS 460 does seem more appealing. Would love to see one side by side with a new S class.

...of Mercedes-Benz. I've been for ages. Though this new S doesn't quite sit that well with me, at least in pictures. Sometimes it looks amazing, in particular the AMG version. But sometimes it looks out of proportion. I haven't seen it in the skin and much like the CLK DTM it probably looks a hundred times better in person so final judgement will jsut have to wait until then. In the meantime the Audi A8/S8 is still my favourite luxury saloon.

I have seen many new 2006 S classes badged S550 and also S500.
Do u think both badging will continew ?

AND there is not even a single change in the two cars except for the badge.

Also SOME MB's seniors said that S550 will be available for coustomers after mid-Feb 2006.It means, for now there is only S500 and S350 available for the coustomers to chose from.

AS i think S500 badging will stop, as soon as S550 badging cars appear after Mid-Feb.

Hey anyone here can tell me why MB badged S500 when they knew that soon they r going to badge it S550.Even though both badged cars are exactly same.I have seen and drived both in person.
Yeah right S500 and S550.

I think this is not fare,as some people now with S500,when they will see that company has badged it S550 only in the next month and didn't informed then earlier,and gave them relatively inferior badged car for the same price as of new badged S550,then it will be ver difficult for the company,as u all know that a high end luxury owner that to of BMW,MB,Lexus,Bentley expects a lot from it.

As everybody knows:Model plate,badging...etc counts when u sell the car.

I know it's very easy to just take out S500 and put S550 on it....but why,doesn't the company knows before,why they badged a 5.5litre car as S500.

I know mercedes has done same thing before in 2003 when some people bought 2003 model S320 in 2003,but then company immediatly stopped S320 and came out with the S350 in the same year.

I care for this unfir action as back in 2003 my 2003 S320s loosed value in the showrooms itself.As moooost peolpe opted for newly S350.
Same now,as my showroom now have 4 S500 badged cars and i already sold 1 S550 to a fool,to whom i gave the lecture of 1 hour explaining that both badging cars are exactly same,but HE SAID NO PROBLEM,WHY R U FORCING ME TO HAVE S500 WHEN BOTH CARS R SAME,HE THAN TOOK HIS S550.

BUT NOW I DECIDED THAT I WILL RETURN S500s TO THE MB'S DEALERS AND WILL TAKE S550s IN RETURN.
