Bmw wants to position its electric cars as premium vehicles
As you may know already, Bmw is currently developing its first family of electric cars collectively known as Project i which are expected to make quite a buzz in the automotive industry. It appears that the German manufacturer wants to position its forthcoming family of electric cars as premium vehicles.

Of course, one of the factors in developing the vehicle would be if the buyers are ready to drop combustion engines in favor of electric power and to pay a considerable amount for a vehicle with a radical design.

Electric cars are the future, if we can get are infrastructure to handle it.

We have the majority of the infrastructure, since the majority of cars will be charging at night during non peak hours. And the charged ones plugged into the grid during the day can help relieve the extra strain.

Audi is going to beat BMW to the market by 5-6 years in the premium electric vehicle segment. Audi's eTron has already received the greenlight for production and it will be on the road in 2011.

Also, I don't think BMW's Efficient Dynamics Concept will be signifcantly better than Audi's eTron considering the eTron is based on Audi's R8, an already amazing vehicle in its own right.
