First look at Porsche's new Panamera Turbo

First look at Porsche's new Panamera Turbo
I had my first opportunity to see the all-new Porsche Panamera in person at the Ira Porsche Dealer in Danvers.

The dealership had a special launch party for the car and there were quite a few folks at Ira checking out the hottest new Porsche. The cars at hand were two Porsche Panamera Turbos one, which was sportier while the other was a little more luxurious. Pictured above is the one that is sportier with the huge classic style Porsche rims and yellow brake calipers

Probably one of the most thought out sedans I've ever seen. It looks like whatever vision they had really came out in production.

I probably would have to agree with the author on the looks of the car. I too went to a launch party event...and to my surprise the car looked much better in person. The car was much larger than it looked in pictures...and it seemed to have good road presence. Then I sat in it...wow...enough space for my 6'2" frame front...and back! I set the driver's seat so I was in, what felt like, an optimal driving position. Then I sat behind the same seat...and I couldn't believe I had almost 2.5 inches of space between my knees and the seat back. Not to mention how damn comfortable those seats where. I think this car is really growing on me. Too bad VW plans to kill it in a few years

The 100K+ Porsches (911 turbos etc) tend to have horrific depreciation as the miles go up I'm guessing that a well equipped Panamera turbo that sells for 160K, after 2 years and 20K miles will be worth somewhere in the lo 90's. No way will I trade by '09 C2S in on one, but I agree that the Panamera is far more striking in person than in pictures

The Aston Rapide, Maserati Quattroporte, and to a lesser extent MB CLS, and Audi A7.

It still looks weird to see a porsche with a cabin that big...

The Cayenne may carry the Porsche name but, it's nothing more than a rebodied VW Touareg.

On a test drive in a new 2010 AWD TL 2 days ago, I saw this Panamera blow by us with someone else on a test drive ( Monroney still in the window). Didn't get the best look of the car (it was traveling VERY fast) and all I can say about it was that it looked very IMPOSING. If you didn't know what this car is ( and most of the general public DOESNT), you absolutely knew that is was VERY EXPENSIVE. I heard the engine from inside of the TLs cabin and it sounded nice. I am sure it is a very nice car and it definitely looks like someone very well off would be driving it.
