These idiot's don't deserve to own 'The Ultimate Driving Machine'

A 41-year-old father of three is in critical condition this morning after he was apparently intentionally hit by a BMW in the parking lot of the Aliso Town Center, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said.

John Royston, a loan officer from Aliso Viejo who played football at the University of New Mexico and coached football at Santa Margarita High School several years ago, was in critical condition at Mission Hospital In Mission Viejo, said sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino.

The incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday when the victim and two male friends were walking from the Opah Restaurant and Bar to the Fatburger Restaurant across the parking lot, said Amormino.

A fast-moving silver BMW went through a stop sign and the trio yelled at the driver to slow down. The BMW continued on at first and then it hit a parked Mercedes-Benz and spun around several times, Amormino said.

The BMW, occupied by two or three men in their 20s, headed toward the trio and struck the man.

“His two buddies were able to jump out of the way,” Amormino said.

He said the BMW has front-end damage from the incident and damage to the driver’s side door from what is believed to be an earlier collision.

A Detective work by Police will ensure the evidence will be submitted to Material Analysis Unit which is run by F.B.I. and figure out exactly which model, year and make of the subjects car was at the time of the accident.
In plain english - when BMW hit MB and victim, the car left a "fingerprint" if you will. This crazy demented nutcase WILL be caught eventually. Witness to the crime will eventually begin to surface by people or street cameras also.

You've been watching too much CSI. While I am sure the technology exists to do such a test, the question is, will they, and can they do it in that geograpical locale?

It's all about narrowing it down. DMV keeps all the records of the car model, color and year of the car right? Yes they do..its all computerized. You submit BMW's "fingerprint" and start comparing the two matchings. Also, subject's car spun around several times, meaning it again left more "fingerprint" b/c now you can scrap-off tire residue and study it under molecular level and findout which tire was on the BMW. Farther narrowing down to find the subject. Best bet IMO is probably the subject will try to repair the car at a local bodyshop and usually that's when cops are alerted. Also, when you repaint over original paint...once caught..it'll make much easier to convict a person for obvious reasons but usually 2-3 occupiers of the suspected vehicle will open there big mouth about the heroing incident they've committed and somebody will eventually turn him in for an reward. That's just the way it is.

You have to wonder if the car was stolen though.

If it's stolen suspects will mostlikely ditch the car ASAP and try to wipe off all latent fingerprint to avoid retrace and try to run.
However, its impossible not to leave your identity because FBI will collect every piece of hair and fiber unknowningly left behind by you. Trust me..its almost impossible for 2-3 occupants to not leave anything behind..btw, I'm talking about microscopic size evidences here! Anyhow, once evidence is collected..i.e. latent fingerprint (whom), hair DNA, clothing fibers(tells you color, type of clothing, brand, make)etc...it'll only be matter of time before their apprehension and conviction:)
Crime of rage such as this is probably drug involved also and I can almost guarantee this knocklehead has a prior arrest record also.

Things are not like they are on tv. In the real world, you can't match a hair sample then immediately get a confession like on CSI.


The departments that do these sort of tests are soo busy, that the case may be dumped. Also doing a test on the tires more than likely will lead you to everyone who has that bmw if the tires were stock. Once you heat the rubber the composition changes, so attempting to take a DNA style test of the tire left behind would never hold up in court because many tires would match that "fingerprint".

About hair fibers, finding a hair sample in the car does not prove that someone was driving the vehicle it when it stuck the victim.

Even if they can prove that someone stole the car, they cannot prove without a witness or a confession that they were driving the car when the car struck the pedestrian.

I know in perfect world this would all work out and everyone would be happy, but our legal system certainly has its flaws.
