Hennessey Hyundai Genesis Carbon Coupe coming to SEMA

Hennessey Hyundai Genesis Carbon Coupe coming to SEMA
In order to surprise everyone at this year’s SEMA Show, Hyundai Motor America has partnered with Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) and the Tuner School for a custom Genesis Carbon Coupe.

The new car carries 500 hp @ 6,000 rpm, 465 lb-ft of torque and can sprint from naught to sixty in just 3.9 seconds while for the quarter mile run it needs just 12.5 seconds. Hennessey obtained these impressive numbers with several engine modifications such as a Hennessey Custom Single Turbo System, Precision 66 mm ball bearing turbocharger, Tial blow-off valve and 44 mm wastegate, a HKS boost controller, upgraded injectors and fuel pump.

Hmmm... an economy car with carbon fiber body panels and a big turbo... so this is what Korean rice looks like?

You guys nag on Hyundai too much. There's nothing wrong with anyone trying to tune the Genesis. Perhaps you guys are jealous Hennessey hasn't tuned yours!.. I think this is impressive for them to get this car to under 4 seconds 0-60mph!. What other economy car "sooped" up can even touch this?

Back in the seventies we had cars with faux-wood, now we had cars with faux-carbon fiber

No ones reinventing the wheel here....

Impressive 0-60 times, it just beats the Vetts 0-60 time by .1 second, but the vett beats the Hyundai in the 1/4mile by just a bit. Sounds like they could benifit from a higher compression like the Ford Coyote engine to inprove gas economy and improve power, this car is cool and all but is a bit old school in comparison to Ford.

Badgewhore, is this a 2L? If so I can't wait to see what Hennessy will do with the 3.8l engine.
