BMW Group's October 2009 Sales Rise 2% - BMW Brand Up 0.4%
FRANKFURT (Dow Jones)--BMW AG (BMW.XE) said Monday that global sales were up 2% on the year in October at 115,252 cars, driven by robust demand in China, India and Brazil.

In these three markets BMW exceeded the sales volume achieved for the whole of 2008 after just ten months this year.

"Our sales figures have been steadily recovering since April - and we were able to make gains in October as planned. We expect to see further solid growth in November and December," said BMW executive board member Ian Robertson, adding that the German automaker wants "to remain the world's leading premium manufacturer once again in 2009".

The core BMW brand eked out its first year-on-year rise in monthly car sales in October, fueled by the Z4, the flagship 7-series and the compact 1-series. "In 2009, again, we will clearly sell more than one million BMW's," Robertson said.

More of the same. China is now BMW’s biggest market after Germany, the US and the UK. BMW is the second-bestselling German luxury car brand in China. Audi being the leader in the Chinese car luxury market. The sales in BMW best markets Germany, US and UK are down. Same in essence for Audi. MB hit harder by market woes due to their larger exposure to the contracting U.S. market and a smaller presences in China.
