STUD OR DUD? Volvo Teases S60 Ahead Of Geneva - Is This A Move In The Right Direction?
"The all-new Volvo S60 is sculpted to move you. It looks and drives like no other Volvo before and the car's technology will help you to be safer and more confident behind the wheel," says Stephen Odell, President and CEO of Volvo Cars.

The Volvo S60 can be equipped with Pedestrian Detection - a groundbreaking safety feature that can detect pedestrians in front of the car and brake automatically if the driver does not react in time.

The all-new Volvo S60 is being unveiled to the public for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in early March next year. Production of the sporty sedan model will start in early summer 2010 at the Volvo Cars plant in Ghent, Belgium.

"Customers in this segment want emotional appeal, sporty design and dynamic driving properties. The S60 has it all. We are convinced that it will be one of the strongest contenders around," says Stephen Odell.

Actually, I think it looks like a Hyundai Genesis Coupe that mated with a MB E coupe.

I like it. not too boxy and not too bubbly. It still has the Volvo look.

agreed - it's in sync with XC60 design. It works.

The front end is too busy, with the mini lights in there, but very good design, at least to me.

Who knows! It depends on if it is reliable...probably not. will the all wheel drive have an active rear diff like Saab? Probably not! Will you still have to replace the thin brake rotors that are to thin to reserface, definitly! Will it be reliable...ummmm I don't think they have the testing ability to assure that! Will it be expensive yes! Will it perform well....Maybe as good as the last gen Acura TL...maybe not! Will the wheels bend you betcha! Will it have a full sized spare tire? HELL nO

The XC60 is a good indication of the styling direction Volvo is taking, so the new S60's design isn't a surprise in my eyes. I'm actually quite fond of the XC60 and the new S60 also looks very tasteful. Conservative and bland? Yes. But still tastefully elegant and classy in the typical Volvo way.

Now this is the kind of imagination and elegance toyota, nissan, and chrys...I mean benz should be shooting for with their sport sedans. This is nice, those others...not so much.

What's the deal with these car companies and their love "schist brundel brown". Wanna make your car look better, paint it a color some one is actually going to buy.

It has elements that are unnecessary. Why are there stand-alone lamps between the headlamps and the grille? This so-called styling cue is the bane of the 00s styling. I object to the front end, but the rest of the car may have hope.
