WORLD EXCLUSIVE: The SPIES Get First REAL Details On BMW's Next-Gen 5-Series
Received this exclusive information from a reader, today.

Looks like BMW is going to be doing up the all-new F10 5-Series right!  It seems that everyday news it hitting the wire about this long-awaited product.

"Dear 00R,

I know that you had the teaser shot of the 5 series today, but here's a better update.

if you think you know what the 5-series interior looks like, I have exclusive information proving otherwise.

Here are the key differences from the 5GT:

The new 5 series will be driver focused
- Storage area beneath radio will be gone
- Console sweeps up
     -- Like the E39s
-- Center stack will be more angled towards driver, more cockpit like
- Window switches that are flat on 3-Series and 7-Series will sweep up like older 5-Series cars
- "Bangled" door handles will change to "pistol-grip" door handles (put your hand in and squeeze to open)

If you felt alienated as an E39 fan and never warmed up to E60, you are going to be in lust for the new car. it is going back to its roots.

The diesel will not be offered right away in US.  But the European diesel with a 6-speed automatic could be the best diesel/transmission combination to ever come out of BMW.

I'll be the first to let the spies know, because the launch is less than a few weeks away on November 23rd.

Sincerely,

Goldfinger"

With that said, take a look at the 5-Series GT photos in our gallery and spot where the differences will take shape....

What say you? Is this the right direction for BMW's F10? A move towards the traditional BMW we have not seen in the latest crop of vehicles from Bavaria?

Not impressed. This is a mess.

* The center tunnel is huge.
* Center stack buldges out with dash falling away to both sides.
* The twisting edges of the dash are confusing to the eye as they spiral out of sight (from right to left) when compared with all of the other straight horizontal lines.
* The 8 radio selection buttons are huge.
* Tall drinks in the cupholders will interfere/obscure the climate controls.
* Map pockets in doors are way too small.
* etc...

These are all 5 series GT's but I know they are not going to make the interiors completley different. I still like the interior reminds me of the late 90's 7 series IMO.....I dont care much about the interior because its not the interior im worried about because whatever is in the 5 series GT is whats going to be in the new 5 series Saloon....its the exterior that i want to see but im sure they wont let me down since the last 2 generation 5 series were HOT anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't say it's a total mess - as at least buttons look organized, but I do agree with your comment on functionality, simply unacceptable on a family sedan. However it's ugly - metal trim everywhere but ends nowhere. Wood trim so shiny that looks like plastic. Not joking, but all materials, other than metal and perforated seat, looks the same as my E46.

The new interior is a massive improvement over the stark, bland, cold E60. The E60 interior didn't become decent until 2008. Even thought it's a copy of the 7er's a quantum leap for the 5er, Bravo BMW!

Just to clarify, gentlemen.

These photos are from the 5-Series GT. The differences are labeled above, photos are merely for reference.

clean-lined, nice textures. also love the reddish brown leather. and thank god they've gotten rid of the pop-out cup holders and returned to normal ones in the center console.

I think it's going to be what we all expect to see, with a few minimal improvements here and there.

Not entirely predictable.

With BMW's latest interior design language, featuring a lot of flatness to them, this has come as a shock to me -- a good one at that.

I like it...but cupholders are located in the wrong place for sure.

When has BMW ever known where to build a cupholder..., let alone build one.

Truly nothing new about it, the same interior in all 7, 5, and 3 series. No variety what so ever!

I love how the Cockpit is angled towards the driver. That reminds me the old 5 series, which i love the most!
I like everything apart from the door storage being too small and the cup holder location.

I'm willing to be that the same people who scream PREDICTABLE here are the first ones to criticize a brand once a few interior or exterior designs begin to detract from the rest of the lineup.

Sometimes similarities are a good thing you know...

This car is cursed with German over engineered crap before it is coming to market with it's already OBSOLETE INTERIOR OF DOOM! UGH!!!
Now I know why over 70% of BMW customers lease! They can't wait to get der Nue Von that looks like Der old Von!

"More driver oriented" WTF does that mean? They need to go back to what made me lust for a BMW - a drivers sedan, period. They need to get back to better engaging transmissions. If more drive oriented means "design" and not performance than I am completed lost with BMW's grand plans for the upper line of cars. Stop putting slosh box transmissions and get with the program, get your 6 speed manuals to be nicer, quicker, smoother like Audi and Porsche. DCT is good, the 6 speed in the 1 series is nice, now build on that, then tell me its more driver oriented. Unless your definition is completely different than mine.
