Cars Of The FUTURE, Is This The Direction You Want To See Design Heading?
Where do you expect to see automotive design in the upcoming decades?  At this point, I cannot be certain.  Essentially, the sky is the limit.

And after seeing this year's Design Challenge, with the theme being cars in 2030, it seems that things are about to get very interesting.  With concepts from Audi, Toyota, GM, Mazda, Nissan and Honda, the sketches were previewed to gasps.

Is this where you want to see auto design heading?  Too wild? Not wild enough?

How about General Motors' Car Hero? Weird, huh?

I am big on innovation, but this car is useless, nothing going on here exept a shock value, the drive system would fill up with debrie, ie. snow, mud,dirt... This is fantasy that serves no purpose.

Call me JADED (Just Another Design Exercise, Dude!), but this thing won't ever get past the drawing board. It seems that no matter when you look at "futuristic" designs, 1950s, 1960s, etc., they are just a dated "vision" of the future, as depicted in some bygone era. At the time, they are viewed as being innovative, but a decade or two later, they look foolish.

Like Disc Brakes or Air Brakes or Rear Diffusers for Downforce.

The only thing truly futuristic would be a real market for hydrogen powered cars and a sufficient infrastructure of refueling stations throughout the country.

First off, I'd like to see where I'm going, so "no" to the above design, among other gripes.

This is nothing - we already have cars like that. I like these sketches, but I hate how they're so overrated - and every concept is virtually identical... the designers are so hypocritical for calling our present-day cars bland and boring. These concepts are so unoriginal! Can't these guys start sketching things that the average people couldn't think of?
