Lexus' IS 250C, Luxury Worth A Look?

Lexus' IS 250C, Luxury Worth A Look?
Pleasure, yes. Thrills, no. Unless you consider heeling over like a small sailboat in a stiff crosswind to be thrilling. That's how the Lexus IS 250C, a retractable hardtop four-seater, handled corners.

And despite its stated 8.4-second acceleration from 0 to 60 mph, the 2010 IS 250C doesn't so much leap forward as it gets underway with determination.

On the other hand, most everything else about the test car, a well-equipped IS 250C priced $46,750, was a delight....

Tauron, a man that drives a CLK cabrio shouldn't be calling other vehicles out as "chick cars." Don't throw stones when you live in a glass house.

Somehow this car seems cheap to me! I am thinking Chrysler Sebring Convertible cheap!

If the writer wants thrills, he should drive the IS350C,
not the base IS250C.

Yea but jeez. If you're going to go spend $55k on a vert, are you really going to go for an IS when the 335 vert starts at 50?

as with the IS sedan, the 250 is 90% of sales. it's a wimpy car. the 350 is better, but still not as quick as competitors and still weak on handling.

for thrills, but a 335i convertible or a boxster.

The IS250 is already a slow car. Adding 100's of lbs of convertible hardware is only going to make this car slower. Seems like the prefect chick car.

not worth a look.
the IS250 sedan was underpowered, this heavy convertible is a total dog.
not to mention the dismal handling.

I life the convertible offering of infiniti over this.

In total in all markets Lexus produce 3 IS variants. US get only 2 (IS250 and IS350) while some countries especially Asian get 1 model (IS300 with 230BHP).
IS250 competes with C180, 320i...etc.
IS300 competes with C300, 328i
IS350 competes with C350, 335i.
No IS directly competes C200 Kompressor and 323i.

You can't just say IS250 is slow and underpowered, if so than all it's competitors mentioned above are also slow and underpowered and you are not the targeted buyer. There is some other car for you try IS350. Yes you can say Toyota should offer the middle model the more all round car IS300, same way some customers here wish Toyota offer IS350 and IS-F.
Lexus should expand variants and sell all of them everywhere. Recently added LS sport and now rumoured upcoming ES250 is good step.

The 128i and 135i Cabrios would kick the IS250 & 350's respective arses for at least $10K less and are a hell of a lot more fun to drive (and have a lot more trunk space with the tops down as well)..

You just dont get it do you ?

we are talking about HANDLING. How a vehicle handles the curves and undulations on the road as you go about your business.
The key part of the review is when the reviewer stated and i quote "Unless you consider heeling over like a small sailboat in a stiff crosswind to be thrilling. That's how the Lexus IS 250C, a retractable hardtop four-seater, handled corners."

I would choose a 320 Conv over an IS 350 Conv anyday.

I would tell a Volvo C70 potential buyer to have a look at the IS250. Better car an better value for sure.

Its ok. I am not a covertible guy, but if I was forced to get one, the G37 and 3 series are both better.

Lets see I could could have a Lexus that slow, ponderous handling, and frumpy, or the Infiniti G35 the much faster, enjoies driving down the road, and is stunningly beautiful. Yeah that choice is going to keep me up at night.

People are going to buy this over the Infiniti and BMW equivalents for the same reason that people always choose Lexus over Infiniti and BMW. Besides, nobody here doubts that the model is selling, do they? How many times has that crowd been disproved?

Why bother with this frumpy looking Lexus when you can an S5 Convertible or if you lucky enough to live in Europe a TT-RS.

yes, total chick car. I would hate to drive this vehicle. There is absolutely no room for the back seat passengers. I would never pick a Lexus over any other "luxury" brand. The only reason people will buy this, price. thats it! so friggin boring! I really dont get why anyone would want to drive a Lexus.

Keep driving the bimmer then.
