Carmax, the nations largest used car retailer, has put together the top ten features new car buyers yearn for in online searches. But, rather than just listing them, we've tried to divine why someone might want each of these gadgets.

Why People Want It: The phrase "Set it and forget it" made Ron Popeil a rich man. We don't particularly like paying attention to things that don't need constant modulation, it's boring. Thus cruise control. It used to require Rube Goldberg-like gadgetry to keep speed constant without having your foot on the pedal, but now it's as simple as a piece of software controlling the electronic throttle. Not standard yet (but getting there) are systems to prevent you from plowing into the back of a Reatta at freeway speeds because some boob decided to slam on his brakes while you were texting on your cell phone....

Depends where on where you live.

Here in Canada, where it gets really hot and humid during summer and amazingly cold, humid and snowy in winter, AC, heated seats, AWD and remote ignition are the most requested features.

I guess it's different if you live in Dubai.

I have also become spoiled to the auto rain sensors, and the auto dimming of the lights from bright to low. Ventilated seats are a must in convertibles and the south, You would think power seats would be in the top 10. Bluetooth is very popular as well

Radio stations control on the steering wheels! I hate commercials, to be able to change the station at the flick of the thumb is priceless...

A friggin' telescoping steering wheel. Why this isn't standard, I'll never know. I don't want to move closer to the pedals just to steer, and end up crunching my legs. I want the wheel to come to me.
