GOOD or BAD: Mercedes-Benz To Build C-Class Coupe

GOOD or BAD: Mercedes-Benz To Build C-Class Coupe
Mercedes is preparing to axe the CLC to make way for a new C-class coupe in 2011, Autocar can reveal.

The C-Class coupe will be the second two-door based on the existing C-class but the first to take its name into production.

Set to go on sale in the UK at the same time as facelifted versions of the existing saloon and estate reach showrooms in early 2011, the new C-class coupe has been conceived to replace the CLK, discontinued earlier this year after 12 years and two model generations.

The introduction of the C-Class coupe spells the end for the CLC, a small sports hatch that was only recently updated.....

I disagree:

1. Everyone knows C goes against 3. Now you spend more less money on a coupe basically the same as a CLK.

2. Size is not eveything. 6 series has less room than 3 series, and that doesn't stop BMW making it or people buying it.

Well comment your really doesnt make sense one any car in the same class or "price range" would be a better description has a smaller backseat than the 3 series, the 6 series size wise is a "larger" car than the 3 series as its would be competition so failed point. Second the E class coupe isnt sized like an E class, dimensions wise it matches the A5 and the 3 series coupe so where would a C class coupe fit in the line up???? Not to mention the e class coupe's interior is still a notch below that of the e class sedan in the quality department its more c class interior wise than the E sedan is.........sounds a bit like 1 series competition....

C coupe should go, it is an smart choice. There is a lot of people looking for an small coupe as the 3 series and the only options are coming from Japan. Finaly that will be a volume car not an X6 or 5GT, they need to make money....Expensive cars? nop, they already have the whole AMG division. CLK is pointed agains the 6 series and C coupe will be ok against the 3.

tho the ugly styling, the last C-hatch did sell pretty well.

offer a true coupe and it will eat away sales from BMW/Lexus...hopefully it'll have a hard top vert variant to compete with the gang as well.

i for one am eager for this...

Its an excellent idea because then they will have a cabrio version. They only have roadsters available and the CLK cab is being phased out.
