GM to launch a big incentive program on each of its four surviving U.S. brands
To sell down its remaining 2009 inventory, General Motors Co. is launching an incentive program for each of its four brands that begin November 18. Chevrolet has the “Red Tag Sale,” Buick-GMC will go with the “Holiday Event” and Cadillac will have the “Seasons Best” sale.

At a press event, Susan Docherty, GM’s vice president of U.S. sales, said that there will be a “little bit of carryover of that” into the first quarter of 2010, but the objective is to keep GM’s inventory somewhere between 425,000 to 450,000 units.

In the long run, incentive programs are ALWAYS a mistake...

SURE, they bring people into the showrooms..but as soon as the incentives end...buyers stop coming...waiting for the next group of incentives.

It's Detroit's own fault for conditioning the public to expect incentives.

Pavlov would be proud.

"How about an incentive to remove the UAW..."

Ofcourse those German Auto makers aren't Unionized....<sigh>.

Unions RUN most european nations.

We should be so lucky to retain the UAW in it's current form, the way the liberals are moving this nation, we will be part of the EU in a few years.

UAW, 'Invisible' assumes you work for the UAW. Also assumes that you might work for GM (or Chrysler). Since GM received bailouts, odds are your paycheck has continued to be valid based on the US government intervening. 'Invisible' is not saying you don't earn your paycheck, he is saying that there would be no $ to pay you for your work if the US Gov't. didn't fork over that money.

BTW, I also assume you work for GM for the sake of this discussion.

Looks like I'm still gonna wait on the 2010 Terrain to start offering a deal.
