Production twin-turbo Camaro, a possibility says Bob Lutz
When asked by Inside Line whether a production twin-turbo Chevrolet Camaro is in the works, General Motors’ vice-chairman Bob Lutz responded with “Perhaps.” Although this is far from an admission, it makes fans everywhere relish the possibility. Aside from this, Lutz confirmed a production version of the Camaro Synergy Concept shown at SEMA as well as an all-black special-edition model.

The fact that Chevrolet is considering producing a twin-turbo Camaro shouldn’t come as a surprise since Chevrolet did roll out a twin-turbo V6 Camaro for Jay Leno at SEMA a few weeks ago.

Twin Battery o_O... and I always thought turbo's were crude the have been around for so long now and the fuel economy decreases faster then the power added by them.

Badgewhore... after your twin battery comment I am pretty sure that you do not understand anything about cars and or technology. Tell me exactly what is bad with a pushrod engine? It lowers costs by having a single camshaft, it lowers weight by using 1 (instead of 4) and it has that camshaft lower (thus lowering the cg) since it isn't on the top of the engine. It reduces the engine dimensions, thus allowing you to fit in a larger engine into a smaller space. LOL you probably think the Corvette's leaf spring suspension is identical to what is found on buggies as well lol.

1995e34, +1, good point. I was discussing this with a good friend that is an automotive enthusiast. The conclusion I have come to: the majority of folks buying the V8 will accept no substitute. The TTV6 will likely increase the presence the Camaro already has from other makes/models being considered by younger generations. I can see this being popular among tuners, drifter and drifter wannabes. If anything, it will take away sales from the current V6. Just my thoughts. My friend is still skeptical.

Did you guys know Bob hates his boss and would say anything that could piss him off. If you asked Bob if GM would make a quad turbo Corvette with 1,000 HP at the wheels he would probably answer that he just got back from testing said car. I am just waiting for someone to ask him about a Caddy CTS Wagon with the engine from a ZR1.

I'm not sure how saying that a twin turbo Camaro is "perhaps" in the works going to piss off Bob's boss, but what I do know is that saying so will bring about attention. Something that GM needs. Also, if there will be a twin turbo Camaro that means that power in the next Corvette will be increased...significantly. Because we all know what happened the last time another car in the GM lineup had Corvette-equalling performance. The GNX got canned. So I say bring on the "Z28" because that will means the base 'Vette getting hopefully 550 or so with Z06 around 600. I'm sure the ZR1 would be getting damn near 700 to make things all the more interesting.
