Honda's NSX May Be Revived As A Race Only Model
Plans for a front-engined replacement for the Honda NSX supercar could be revived courtesy of a change in the rules of Japan's Super GT racing series.

Honda's front-engined, rear-drive supercar project (pictured right as the 2007 Acura Advanced Sports Car concept) was canned at the end of last year as Honda felt the bite of the economic crisis, but Super GT regulations banning mid-engined layouts could give the project a second chance.

The NSX racer bowed out at Twin Ring Motegi earlier in November, after a 13-year racing career that involved 49 poles and 36 wins from 105 starts. Now the teams that ran the car need a replacement quickly.

And especially so when LFA comes with 9000 rpm engine.... As I posted eleswhere:

Did LEXUS just built the next NSX for HONDA?
If so, what can Honda do to differentiate next NSX from LFA?

Mid-engine seems the obvious choice......

A front engined Acura NSX = FAIL, before it hits the showroom it lost the faithful.

Isn't mid engine supposed to be the best for handling? Honda should continue with progress instead of complying with dated racing rules, isn't racing supposed to be about advancing technology?

Don't believe anything coming out of Honda these days.
They have practically killed Acura with their recent decisions (no V8s, no rear-drive, no halo car).

Have you seen what Ford is doing to the 3L Coyote V-6? When it goes into the 2011 f-150 it will have 400HP and 400LBS, with that tech I would love to see what a V-8 will do.Honda has some catching up for 2011 to compete with fords new motor, did I mention this v-6 will be 15% better that the older v-6.
