HOT or NOT: Who Said There Can Be Too Much Carbon Fiber?

HOT or NOT: Who Said There Can Be Too Much Carbon Fiber?
A London-based M3post user has gone a bit bonkers about carbon fiber. After getting the supposed "mod bug," the chap has made an interesting modification list that consists of:

- wrapped matte black carbon fiber
- 20" 360 forged mesh 8 matte black center with chrome deep dish
- matte black side grills
- matte black kidney grills
- smoked rear lights
- smoke window tints
- upgraded head lights
- Remus race exhaust

What do you say, SPIES?

Two thumbs up or two thumbs down?

You know what they say, "As long as they're happy."

that guy has the most expensive M3 in the world and its not too much I would love to do something to an M3 like this and paint it......and my license plate would say "THESLEEPER"...... but if I am going to go all out and make the whole car light weight the back seats are coming out the sapre tire is out....etc...I would make my own CSL

B7fan actually this guy has the worst vinyl wraped M3 in the world at least the next owner will have a safe paint job under the cover. He also needs to talk to whoever did the work because the door weave does not line up with the rest of the car which looks like crap. There is a reason people paint carbon or only show some. When you show two peices with a panel gap it looks like shit.

What the hell are you talking about. I just looked again at the vehicle in question and the weave patterns line up perfectly.

Sometimes it is better to just shut up instead of typing some BS just for the sake of typing.

If you are refering to the weave patterns of the A Pillar and Door of course they are not going to match. They do not match even on REAL CARBON FIBRE Vehicles. But Front Fender / Door / Rear Fender patterns Match.

What i like is the Attention To Detail. It must have taken a lot of Man-Hours with Surgical Precision to achieve the final Product.

Not really. He only paid about 3,500$ US for it.

Like it.

Gives the Vehicle a nice 3 dimensional look to the paintwork.

It looks better than the Chromed Vehicles i see out there,

Guess its because its Matt as opposed to Gloss Finish.

Still i am not the type to mod High Performance Cars. When driving at 150mph or above i prefer to think that only fully qualified professionals have tampered with vehicle i am driving.

This is merely a vinyl wrap, not real CF.

You can NEVER have to much carbon fiber. I just ordered breifs and boxers in CF...........can't wait!!!!!

Might be a little stiff though...

Ideally - Carbon Fibre is best utilized to provide strength to structural components without adding the excessive weight of fabricating like parts from metallic substrates.

'Wrapping' existing (metal) components in carbon fibre results in little more than adding unnecessary weight to existing parts - which is counter-productive to weight-saving.

As a structural engineer, I find it a bit disheartening to see such a capable composite technique/technology reduced to the gaudy fashion-statement represented here.

Oh Well - To Each Their Own

There must be over a hundred different BMW enthusiast boards on the internet. There sure are a lot of rabid fans of BMWs out there. Do any other brands even come close to having such a devoted following?

I have never even heard of a Lexus or Infiniti board.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Just when I hoped that the matte paint fad was ending, here comes carbon fiber.

As a person who has built things with carbon fiber, it is a nasty material to work with and I don't like the look of it at all. It should only be used for structural parts--and painted. Worst of all is having it in a gripping surface...because you are really just holding a chunk of epoxy.

hmm... I like it. It's weird how before carbon fiber became so popular, I would have never considered covering my car in what looks like quilt.

I don't know what you guys are talking about, but I LOVE IT!
