Report: Volkswagen looking to avoid job cuts
It has become more likely that Volkswagen will be able to extend job guarantees until 2014 for 90,000 workers in its high-wage western German plants, according to a Reuters report. In an interview with Personnel Director Horst Neumann, VW is confirmed to have an aim to “secure employment in the long term.” VW holds its traditional planning session this month where its supervisory board will discuss its strategy and set a rolling budget for the upcoming years.

Neumann said that also up for discussion is the number of investments that reach beyond 2011. This means that the meeting will ultimately be making plenty of decisions about job security.

Case of stealing from the poor to pay the rich. VW's quest to find cheaper labor to offset the high wages paid to German workers. I wish I had job guarantees. Gotta love the sense of entitlement for folks that turn bolts.

1) Dumb headline. I think every company is looking to avoid job cuts, but some companies just cannot avoid it.

2) Its always better to have job security than to have higher wage. Job security is probably one of the most important factors in good work environment.
