Ghosn Says GM Should Have Listened To Him In 2006 And Avoided Bankruptcy
Carlos Ghosn, CEO of the Renault-Nissan alliance, said General Motors would have been far better off if it had formed a transcontinental alliance with the French-Japanese auto partnership in 2006.

"Without any doubt," he told a forum sponsored by the Council on Foreign Relations. GM and the alliance called off talks in October 2006. "We knew fundamentally that this would work, but only if it was a collaborative effort."

Ghosn reiterated that "frankly, there was a possibility to create something that would be extremely competitive" and allow the companies to share technology, best practices and a common approach. "Unfortunately, it did not happen."

FIAT already did a mistake taking Chrysler. Don't do the same thing with GM Renault, don't mess up with this!

I agree with half of your post, but I think the new maxima looks great in real life. It's also priced nicely for what it offers.

for all you guys' criticisms of Ghosn, it isn't like GM was being run by geniuses.

they tried to take over Fiat. then when they came to their senses and realized they'd lose more than they'd gain, they had to PAY fiat yet another BILLION BUCKS just to BACK OUT of the deal!

ghosn also was CEO at VW for awhile.

look at what an EMPIRE vw is now. maybe ghosn COULD HAVE created a GM-Renault-Nissan automotive empire.
