well, toyota DID hire UAW people in the joint venture with GM at Fremont.

and PROVED that even uaw monkeys can be trained to produce quality products. such was the effectiveness of toyota production design and management methods.

they still preferred however, to run all the OTHER plants in NA without unions.

You're right. If democrats were in charge, they would have bankrupted GM before 1990 by not letting them close down the failing plants in Michigan, and we wouldn't have to deal with them at all today! And I guess Carter could have done something about small cars when oil prices rose, but too bad he was too busy dealing with foreign policy. Yeah, it's all the republicans' fault alright. G-damn republicans...
