VIDEO: 2010 Lexus LS460 Sport-Has Lexus Launched A Direct Hit On The Mercedes S550 Sport?
The Spies were hard at work capturing the first real-life shots of the 2010 Lexus LS Sport and Hybrid.
We got a chance to drive them today and although the Sport version of the LS sedan still doesn't rival the drive of a BMW 7-Series, it is a better driver now than a Mercedes S550 sport.
And now, here is the first video tour of the car...

I like the larger area of wood below the Nav for the facelift, and the matte finish of the wood in the Sport really make the wood grain stand out. I realize that sharp, natural dents in the wood is not only cheaper but also dangerous, but I would appreciate a tiny bit more texture on the wood trim besides matte and smooth.

Haha, your so lost. Just give up and stop commenting on these types of posts. Lexus is owned by Toyota. When your in a Lexus ur surprised that u see Toyota parts in it? Im not. Not surprised when i sit in a Lamborghini and realise its pure has Volkswagen switches and a Audiesk Nav system. What about that Porsche Cayenne? Simply a Toureg that needs a new face. Its more economical for manufacturers to build various vehicles with the same parts. Actually for your information. The LS looks nothing like its European counterparts. The 7 series which only recently came out looks very similar to the LS. Il let you be the judge of that. (The LS has been around longer just so you know)

So why, in previous generations, has the LS has been rated better by some publications like this one?

Yes, but I was commenting on Darzav's comment that "The Lexus will never touch the S Class". Everyone knows that the current generation has not been as appreciated as the competition. I was simply stating that the LS is a competitor and that not being able to "touch" the S-class is untrue.

Yes, we all know that current LS is not the top of its game. But to say that it will never touch the S class is not realistic when it has previously, even topped it.

Don't hate but appreciate Lexus for improving or putting more sportiness in Lexus LS. Isn't that what you always complained or asked Lexus to make their cars more sporty. Now in less than 3 years Lexus have launched IS-F, sport accessories for many models, LFA and now LS sport.
They are only going to make their cars more sportier.

wow, an ISF and a sport package for the LS! that an accomplishment in 3 years?!? and the LFA won't be on the road for another year.
in the past 3 years, BMW has launched the 335i sedan/coupe/convertible, the M3 sedan/coupe/convertible, the X6M, the X5M, two versions of the all new Z4, 4 versions of the all-new 7-series with the M sport option, the 135i coupe/convertible and countless other car with fantastic performance.

after 10 years, or even in as few as 5, the CHEAPEST TOYOTA will have a better reliability record than any buick, bmw, mercedes, etc. and lexus will be close to toyota, having more problems ONLY with the fancy audio systems.

They panned it because they took the angle that the mileage wasn't that good for a hybrid and it was expensive.
They had NO idea that everyone who bought it could have cared less about both of those points.
They bought it because they were making a political statement.
The majority of magazine reviewers can't afford to buy a Honda Accord.
So how on earth could they ever understand how a premium customer thinks or what is important to them?

your article excerpt only PROVES what agent 001 said about 'major car mags' and their biases.
1) what owner of an LS600h ever even THINKS about 'road racing' on a mountain road?
2) any person who DOES drive in such a manner, actually PREFERS understeer over oversteer. understeer is far more easily corrected.
3) AWD is inherently stable. i was teaching a friend some winter driving techniques in her new subaru. it was just about IMPOSSIBLE to lose it in turns, regardless of throttle application. (it did also have stability control and traction control.) i was trying to teach her the diff between oversteer and understeer. we simply could NOT make the car do either!
4) it WAS possible to "toss" it around a turn, with INDUCED oversteer using the handbrake. that was the ONLY way to make any wheel lose traction.

i have no doubt that the engines of both cars are reliable. but what about the REST of the car?
lexus vehicles have most of their problems with the audio system; more problems than even toyota audio systems. but then, they ARE more powerful and high-end.
benzs ALSO have problems with the sound systems. AND power eqpt. and body hardware. and body integrity. and brakes.
reliability means far more than JUST the engine, these days. (i know i feel like taking a sledge hammer to my computer every so often. but it is "reliable" as far as firing up whenever i turn it on. lol!)

LONG TERM reliability surveys, on the other hand, reflect the DURABILITY and quality of component parts. whether they break down after 50, 100, 150, or 200k miles.
