What Happens When You OWN Porsche? How VW Will Integrate Their Latest Acquisition...
Although Porsche won't be a fully integrated member of the Volkswagen group before mid-2011, the sports car maker can even at this early point in the merger no longer make independent strategic decisions. After all, Martin Winterkorn has effectively been appointed head of the Porsche SE Holding which in turn employs the Porsche AG chairman Michael Macht.

With a takeover as costly and complicated to fund as this one – all in all, VW will have to fork out a staggering €16 billion to absorb the latest family member – it is only logical that the new owner wants to get the restructuring process going asap.

Overnight, Porsche has become easily VW's most expensive brand....

VW does not own porsche.
at 49% equity, they don't even have a controlling stake.

The best thing that VW can do for Porsche is to leave the diving dynamics and powertrain work in the hands of Porsche and give them a little boot in the interior department. I love the 911 always have and probably always will, but having sat in a friends 997, the interior always leaves me lacking. This is not a shot against Porsche as the driving experience comes 1st as it should, but VW could definitely help out in the interior dept.

Porsche interiors are well made and totally acceptable as premium cabins. What's more important in a Porsche is the driving experience and feel-good factor and it goes without saying that this is achieved.

I agree that the driving experience is of the utmost importance and I believe I stated that in the post right above yours, however I PERSONALLY find the interior lacking, I did not say the interior was of poor quality. I find the interior of the Ferrari F430 lacking as well if it makes you feel better. I demand quite a bit for my 100K+, for that kind of coin I want to be impressed driving it and looking at it. Others will tell you that the driving experience is all that matters, I would advise them to pick up a C6 Z06 or GTR two cars I really admire for what they are and pocket that extra 50K........

I agree about the driving experience. But you can have style without adding weight, they do not have to be mutually exclusive IMO and for the price range, they should not be at all.
