AUTO SPIES EXCLUSIVE: Press tries to spin positive for GM but real insiders aren't impressed

The Spies got their hands on a confidential analyst's commentary on the state of affairs at GM and the news is nothing less than disturbing.

It's clear to see here, that the REAL money guys are NOT impressed...

The last line puts into a nutshell what really bothers us about GM.

"The fact that there is no push for radical change should be a major concern for all constituencies."

The bottom line is the core decision makers at GM don't believe their problems are really that serious.

And that's the heart of the issue that HAS to change, if there is any hope of a real turnaround.

The Spies predict that Rick is not far from gettin' the gate...

Radical change does need to happen....and I think exciting car designs could help ou tremendously. The new Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade are hardly the vehicles for this turn around either. They keep blaming the health insurances and pensions....but do you think that if GM had some exciting & quality sheetmetal, GM would not now be in this position? I mean come on....the new Impala already looks old....when compared to New Camry or even the Accord's facelift. GM used to lead in American design in the 50's and 60's and ever since the oil embargos of the 70's they lost their way. I don't wanna see GM fold, but they need more exciting cars so people like myself would be even remotely interested in their vehicles again.

GM is in survival mode. Its pretty damn sad and much worsethan, I've ever imagined. In thanks to GM CEO's empty promises for long as I could remember. Stop your lies G.M.!

Anyhow, hopefully GM will wake up and start getting rid of so many darn models first.

Porsche is rumored to be interested, and with their similiar core values, turbo-charging being one, they could do MUCH better than GM could ever do.

A Saab 9-3 V6 turbo, Hirsch upgraded to 350 BHP, and with a Porsche 4WD system, it would be a real RS4 eater.

Remember back in the day when GM had a lion share of the automotive market? The problem is, since the 80's, GM has been extremely short sighted. In the 80's GM would throw a red stripe on the side of a car, give it painted bumpers and call it a Eurosport. GM would take a car, give it different wheels and a different paint scheme and now its a Z17, Z45, or whatever.
To help Pontiac they brought over the new GTO from Australia. Its a Holden Monaro folks, GM U.S. didn't come up with the design. They borrowed it from another smaller company. Until GM can get a clue and build something worthwhile, they will slowly close up plants, sell or dissolve their companies, and go the way of Studebaker and Hudson. I won't miss Chevy.
