BREAKING NEWS EXCLUSIVE: Photos and critique of the 2007 S-Class ad campaign

Although the car itself is a masterpiece, we think these print ads couldn't be more mundane.

They lack that seductive nature that makes you want to run down to the dealer to see this amazing automobile.

They've just introduced one of the most spectacular cars of the century but you couldn't tell that from the ads in our opinion.

Message to MBUSA and ad agency: Watch the '1984' commercial tonight and go back to the drawing board.

Oh I sense AutoSpies starting to create reasons to fall back on just in case the new S-class does not become as big a sales success as Autospies has, for the last year, been predicting.

The big test will be summer 2006 when auto mag writers get their hands on the S-Class and the new Lexus LS for a comparison. I am not predicting which vehicle will win in most magazines, but I do predict the ultimate sales winner (S or LS) will be correlated with the number of magazines favoring on versus the other.

The Lexus will sell more. It is a better value for the money. It will sell more because of price (~60k VS ~80k). The Lexus is not contriversial, only evolutionary. What bad things can be said about it? The reviews will be very close. 2 good cars, similar size, power, technology and appeal. You cannot loose by purchasing either car. When it comes down to these factors, the less expensive car will sell more units.

All im going to say is Euro will always remain on top no matter how great the 'quality & finish' is on their vehicles. Euro are known for their prestigue and will remain carrying that reputation as the greatest automobile makers in the world. The japs will never surpass the makes of Benz, Bentley, RR, BMW, etc. EVER!

I think this print ad reveals the true look of this car - a cheaper, downscaled Maybach. And the Maybach ain't pretty. But even the Maybach doesn't have horrid curved creases ruining what should be fluid wheel wells. If I didn't see the title of the article, I would have assumed it was an American design.

I agree with dotun.o. The new S-class has resemblance to the Maybach(s). The rear especially. Nevertheless, the vehicle is still constructed with high quality parts and fine finishing. It may not be the best design for the S-class but it will still sell the same as the outgoing model if not even better.

In my opinion the previous gen. s-class was the best. It slick and had lines that made the car classy. The interior of this I feel is somewhat of a disappointment as they had to look over at the Munich boys to almost completely steal the 7-series front interior. Why??

Conclusion: it's still a great car. high value and as expected from any S-class, very luxurious.
