Toyota may move some jobs from California to Kentucky or Michigan

Toyota Motor Corp.’s plan to move some jobs from California to Kentucky or Michigan in order to cut costs will be decided in the next several months, according to unnamed sources who spoke with Bloomberg News.

Toyota’s U.S. product planning, accounting, travel and data departments may move from the headquarters of Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. in Torrance, Calif. It’s also possible that about 200 managers from the sales unit in suburban Los Angeles may be offered to take early retirement. In a statement, Toyota claimed that its North American affiliate companies have no plans to revise their multi-company structure, nor plans for any significant geographic relocations of personnel outside of normal operations.
