Toyota's MR2 May Return As A Hybrid
Ever since Honda announced the CR-Z hybrid sports coupe, there have been rumors going around about the possibility of a corresponding Toyota model.
Just to make it clear, we haven't heard anything official, but Japan's Best Car magazine is reporting/speculating/imagining (take your pick) that Toyota may revive the MR2 as a hybrid model called the MR-S to compete with Honda's CR-Z coupe that will go on sale in 2010.

The car looks great, but why make this into a hybrid? It would be different if it were simular to PML flightlinks hybrid with 640hp... but we all know that this would be lucky to have 250hp, so why would they add weight to the car to only bet a few mpg? dumb!

I hope they make the MR2 an aggressive RWD with some decent power. Make it go head to head against the S2K since size and everything were somewhat similar. RWD and mid-engine economy sports car? Sounds yummy.

If making all their small vehicles hybrids only means bringing down the prices, then I welcome their move. A Tesla-type MR2 would certainly be something to look forward to in the near future.
hybrid = bridge to all electric
cheaper hybrids from large volume = cheaper and better electric cars

Typical Toyota?Lexus want to be in everything CRZ can do it so why I can't we? Acura can have led turn signals on their vechicle so why can't we fool our 56 year median age driver and do the same?
