VIDEO: If this video doesn't make you want a BMW M5, nothing will!

I love it. I have like this car since it first came out and the M version is the icing on the cake! Those who hate it can keep their imitator cars....this is the real deal. If only I could afford one.....

Why is it that when people talk about the 5,7 they always say " I dont mind the looks" not "this is the best looking car ever"?

Well, this video does not make me want a BMW M5. It's butt ugly, and the iDrive is still best avoided. However, if BMW made a beautiful car, inside and out, and it had great instrumentation, I'd surely want one! So much for "nothing will."

What an Ugly car. Outside and inside. The M5 is an $80,000 car that has 3-series quality plastics in the interior. BMW has lost its way when it comes to car designs. The M5 in the video above is proof. The E60 is flat out hideous.

Signal 14, I agree with you on some points. I'm in the same boat , I have a 2003 M5 and 2003 M3 - great cars and I can't persuade myself to love the new M5. Comments like you can't afford it don't really apply.. US is probably the only country where one can afford it.. I don’t know of any other place where you can have 0 down $1200 /month leases . If you were in Russia or HK where you have to bring $200K in cash to buy this car – different story.
But my point is – a person should be excited about buying a 100K car.... I'm just not excited about e60 M5. I drove it for several hours and I’m still cold. (maybe when it comes with a manual, true sport suspension, one 500 power setting to eliminate stupid 279 setup optioins:)
On the philosophical note: I strongly believe one doesn't need an M car in US if you don't take it to the track - it's a waste of money on public roads. I instruct for several clubs and that's where these cars can open their potential.. on the street - you'll be asking for constant tickets...European delivery – is another option to enjoy it.
But then M5 is not really suitable for the track, M3 is much better, even that is too heavy… (my next track car is going to be spec Miata or Exige). The question then becomes - do you need firm riding, needing constant repairs 500hp car on potholes ridden roads in US with speed limits of 65mph and below. M5 is designed to cruise autobahns at 150 all day long. Yes it might see occasional track but for that it needs – new wheels and tires, new suspension (to lower the car and get rid of stupid 3 setting crap), new brakes, some weight reduction and a big bag of money to keep it going.
