German SUV Showdown, Who Takes The Crown?

German SUV Showdown, Who Takes The Crown?
If you are in the market for a German SUV, you better read this. A very interesting comparison between the Audi Q7, BMW X5, Mercedes ML, Porsche Cayenne and VW Touareg.

Auto-motor-und-sport reports:

"The first diesel engine in a Porsche, the Cayenne is fighting against the social ostracism. As proposed, the new oil-racer, with its three-liter V6 in comparison to the established German SUV elite?

Who is currently toying with a big SUV, you should bring in addition to a financial crisis-resistant investing primarily a property: strength of character. Finally, the SUV is used as an eco-enemy number one, it means being "outdated" is often still the nicest assessment on the open-ended rejection scale. Differentiated view? Nil..."

Who cares? The different tastes and expectations consumers in this class have make every car here a winner to somebody. Another flame war in the making...

Agreed. Plus, how many Autospies readers speak German? We want quality content. Not quantity.

@Hantra

It IS quality content if you go the extra mile and use translate.google.com...ALSO it isn't that hard to scroll down the page, see where they placed (even in German 1, 2, 3 translates to 1, 2, 3) and voice your opinion.

If you are looking for an offroader...buy american or japanese, most of the european do not offer snorkels for the offroaders.

Because housewives dropping the kids off at soccer practice or going to the club for lunch really need snorkels.

So, the Porsche Cayenne and VW Touareg are not capable off-roaders?

OR do they just not make an accessory snorkel?

Pretty sure I have seen a few snorkels on Touareg's on VWvortex forums...

Off-road none can match GX470 and i assume all new GX460 too as it's only improved over it's predecessor. Out of this group BMW X5 would be my choice.

i think you've mistake the lexus for a land rover/range rover.

or perhaps the land cruiser if you want a serious off-road vehicle.

Land Rovers are awesome offroad but their superiority in that arena has dwindle dramatically over the years. When you're offroad in the backwoods, you need something reliable. A Rover can get you out there but it may not get you back. That's where the Japanese(Toyota/Lexus)come in.

VW Touareg = Porsche Cayenne. That's like doing a comparison of the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan.

That's a short-sided perspective.

Although they do share chassis there are some serious improvements on the Cayenne that do make it drive differently.

Google translate is HEAVILY flawed as is your lame posting. You are as bad as Agent009.

I definitely did not expect all the attitude AgentOOR is giving here. That is very surprising coming from him. He usually doesn't do that. And I agree that the original post is very lame. If you want to start a flame war, go elsewhere.

Majority of these cars end up as soccer mum cars. We all have to agree on that fact. In Australia, the majority of all these cars are bought in their basic diesel form. The one i would stay away from is the BMW. Too late, I bought one 2 years ago. How many times has it been in the shop? I lost count. The most unreliable SUV or SAV on that list. Unfortunately thought, its also the best looking.
