The Brand Built On Racing, Continues To Cut Key Motorsport Programs - What Is BMW Up To?

BMW is expected to announce further cuts to its motorsport programme on 5 December.

The German firm pulled out of Formula One earlier this year and is now expected to announce cuts to its World Touring Car Championship programme later this week.

BMW Motorsport boss Mario Theissen would only say that "a decision on next year's programme will be taken on December 5".

No wonder why they pull out from F1. They are going in the wrong direction, First the 5GT instead of the CS, second X6 instead of the X7 now 3GT and X1?...please stop there and continue doing sport cars.

I wouldn't worry. BMW will still be the benchmark in regards to vehicle dynamics and handling. Not the complete bechmark, but the benchmark against competing cars. There are cars like the EVO X, STI and GTR that BMW doesn't have an answer for.

these motorsports events are largely a waste of money. the majority of nascar fans and such are lower income and can't afford premium cars. participation in these events has little--if ANY--impact on sales of road cars.
