Forget about all of those studio shots you see on the other guys' web sites. If you want the real deal, you have come to the right place, thanks to 001 and his magic lens.

One thing that is remarkably striking about the all-new A8 is the attention to detail. Look at the craftsmanship that was put into the vehicle. The finish on the interiors is absolutely remarkable. Many buttons and switchgear have glossy black surrounds, aluminum accents are tastefully inserted across the doors and dash, and wood trim's pattern is striking without becoming overbearing. Panel gaps are nearly non existent in this car!

The 2011 A8's interior rivals that of the recently announced Bentley Mulsanne, a vehicle I had the chance to explore several weeks ago.

SPIES, what are your thoughts on the A8's cabin?

this is a stud the interior is top notch all the way.....the only 2 things I have to say I am not too crazy about..its the exterior and the way the screen for the navi comes out of the dash. The exterior reminds me of a refresh of the previous model except for the L.E.D's in the headlights but it doesnt look re-designed at all IMO....and as for the screen coming out of the dash to me thats late 90's early 2000 technology not a fan of that.

Manufacturers buy sponsorships from us and part of the deal is they get their ad watermarked into all the photos we take at events.

A lot of manufacturers have sponsored the gallery shots over the years but Lexus has been the longest, most loyal sponsor and we thank them for that.

A8 great company/car, thanks to Lexus for paying the bills so we can bring you the shots.

Audi had a chance to pull away and took a step back instead. This is supposed to compete with the S-class and the about the twin turbo Bimmer?

You must be retarded
The A8 4.2 TDI was the most powerful/refined Diesel Engine to be found in Uber Saloons for a very long time.

You think Audi will launch a TDI to rival TTV8 petrols from its rivals ?

TWAT

Just comment on the exterior and interior details of the A8 compared to the S-Class and 7-Series and leave real Analysis for proper Auto Enthusiasts.

Extremely impressive. I think they should have taken out the middle seat in the back and had a permanent arm rest/rear controls, but besides that I wouldn't change much. Probably the nicest interior in its class.

I am not feeling it. Headlights look really odd. Car looks too bland and unimaginative. Things looked hopeful after the gorgeous A5 and the much improved A4, but this is disappointing.

While the interior is amazing, the exterior looks terrible compared to the previous A8. Makes it look exactly like an A4, which is not a good thing for your flagship.

Exterior is bland, looks like a facelift, not an all new model. Head and Taillights shaped exactly as A4, A6. Interior is ridiculously overdone. That shifter, the wood on the seatbacks, the overload of aluminum and shiny black trim. I'm not feeling it. Seems to have lost that classic, elegant look of the current A8. Really an unimpressive interior for their flagship and Audi interiors in general.

Huge DUD.

Nice car,but seriously Audi needs to distinguish their cars a little bit more.It looks like a stretched A4....A5....A6 etc.

I agree 100% this to me is not distinguished as a flagship car it looks just like the A5 only longer and wider. I cant argue with that...rxh8me9000....thats a valid point

It looks like a faclift both inside and outside.
and I don't like the headlights, they look very lazy, also don't like the aluminum thing below the screen, it reminds me Hyundai somehow..
the only things i like the most are the backseat centre arm rest and the seats. They look very comfortable.

The chicks are WAY hotter than this car. After the redesign of the A5 and A4 I was hoping for a home run to come out of the A8 - this is a Double at most. Yes nice interior with all the fancy gloss materials but nothing Audi has not done before and the seats look exactly like the ones you can get from another Audi. The 7 is still king and BMW can take a big breath and hope Mercedes also fumbles its new S class release.

A stud. Elegant and sporty at once. The exterior continues Audi's tradition of modern design that relies on beautiful proportions and subtle details without being overwrought. The interior is simply a work of art. This car makes the S class and 7 series look baroque and old fashioned.

I was hoping for a more striking exterior. The headlights and rear LEDs are a very nice start, but the body work is not much detached from the previous styling. The interior is in a class of its own.

As far as the competition, I've seen the new S-Class and all I can say is that they WAAAAAAAY overdid the external lighting. Extremely tacky. Too many lighting styles mixed in. It looks horrendous. BMW on the other hand, not horrendous on the lighting but their 7-series designers look like they got inspired by the aerodynamics of a cow.

It was kind of predictable, still beautiful though and way better than the pig-styled 7 Series. Interior is absolutely charming.

Why is it people are still talking about bland ?

The previous A8 was not IN YOUR FACE. It was Elegant, Understated, Solid Looking and Very Well Built and that is what attracted its buyers.

Notice you hardly ever saw A8s on 22 inch rims, thats because it was too Understated to get the attention of the Attention Seekers.

The same holds true for this new A8. SOLID, UNDERSTATED, ELEGANT.

this comment may be a first for me (being a huge Audi fanatic) but from the pics i can say i'm not a fan of this A8. i will wait until i see it in person until i reserve my final judgment but to me it looks too much like the rest of the Audi's. this cookie cutter design thing they got going on over at Audi just isn't cutting it for me anymore.

the interior on the other hand is still classy, not much of a stray from the last one but to me that's not a bad thing seeing how i don't think you can improve on the A8's interior.

all in all, i like it but it's not sporty or aggressive like Audi said it would be which lead me to still continue to believe that the MB S class is still the leader in this class.

looks clean, more of a refresh. The way the A8 sits on its wheels makes it look heavy, even though it may not be compared to the comp.. I like how the 7 sits on its wheels, it has a much sportier stance.

Interior looks fantastic (except the Caddy pop up nav). Will probably be the technological marvel we all expect from Audi. Its performance should rival or at a minimum comes close to the 7-Series and S-Class.

The issue with this car is that it's exterior is boring. Looks ho-hum!! Nothing exciting..Its barely sets itself apart from the car it is replacing. Think about how great the current 7-Series and S-Class' look compared to this. With all the other strengths the A8 apparently has its unfortunate that the exterior is a DUD!!

Headlights look very sad. I would say the curvy LED bar in A4 is much nicer. Interior is 90% current A8 so not much changed. Was expecting lot of changes especially exterior but it looks like a jumbo A4.

The interior is very nice, the overall shape is great but does in fact looks like a strecht A4. I can can live with that.

The girl with a short black dress sitting on a stool pleased my eyes.

Finally, whats with that large Weber grille in the front ? It screams BARBECUE. I'm fine with what they call "brand identity" as long as it's not becoming "brand caricature". Same thing can be said to BMW... The kidney stretching is about to reach its limit.

I'm not a fan of cars that large, but I'll give an 8 out of 10. Its sleek and doesnt looks as large as it is.

Beautiful interior. Simply gorgeous.

A dud of a exterior though. No originality. The rear looks like a slightly upsized A4 or A5 and the front headlights look odd. Overall from the outside easily could be confused with any other Audi Sedan. Doesn't look like a $80K car.

Don't really agree with any of you about the car. In this class of vehicle you really need to take into consideration the tastes of your primary clients. Conservative is the name of the game in this segment as the previous generation 7 series made painfully obvious. The most recent 7 redesign went in a much more elegant and conservative direction this time to address that issue and some of you still don't like it. I think the car is absolutely beautiful and an excellent expression of design and technology. It has more presence now, a much bolder look with higher shoulder lines that make it look more massive than before. The interior doesn't need any description, just look at the photos. The tech is beyond what I was expecting however. I think that MB has a lot to be worried about, and even though they will never admit it, so does BMW.

I dont agree with this comment "Conservative is the name of the game in this segment as the previous generation 7 series made painfully obvious" I would see 50 of the previous 7 series before I would see one A8. I agree people didnt like it at first but BMW constantly goes outside the box with their designs and still sell such as the previous 7 series and the previous 5 series. if so many people wanted to be conservative in this particular BIG car market how come im not see a bunch of A8's than the 7er's?????????????????????????????

The only reason you saw more 7 series on the road during the ugly years is because you could get one for about $1000/mo on the lease deal they were offering pretty much ever since it launched and flopped. Now they are making you actually pay for the thing. It's a lot harder sale when they want $105K to buy it and $1700/mo to lease it, but that is pretty much where the sector is these days. The current A8L is way cheaper to buy right now but that will change in a year when the new A8 arrives over here.
