Report: Europeans will be able to buy, not lease, the Lexus LFA
If you’re in North America and you’ve been meaning to buy a Lexus LFA, then you’re out of luck. The vehicle will only be available on a lease-only basis in North America while European customers will only be able to buy the cars. The news of the leasing policy reached stunned potential buyers.

The carmaker asserted that it sought to maintain ownership of the 150 units that will be delivered to the US and Canada because it wanted to prevent speculative purchasing and a second-hand resale of the vehicle at bloated prices. The company gave no statement on why it’s taking a different direction in Europe and allowing car ownership in the continent.

We are not as Greedy as you Americans, and whichever Twit over here tries to raise the price it will not be more than 10-15% over MRSP, else he would not find any buyers, we are not as Stupid or Gullible as Americans.

Yeah, like this thing will sell over sticker at over $300k. This would be a different story at R8 prices. C'mon, remind me again why I wouldn't rather wait for the Murcielago replacement, or choose from the SLS, Ferrari 599/458, Alfa 8C Competitione, Aston Martin DBS,R8 V10...I could do this all day. There are people at Lexus that need to get their heads out of the clouds.

Look buddy (Dustbuster).. Currently, the target market for this vehicle is definitely not the folks who are simply looking for the best 'bang for the buck'. Rich folks aren't concerned about cost, their main concern is status and the 'wow factors' in life. Lexus is hoping that exclusivity will be the LF-A's strong selling points. The whole 'For that kind of money, I would buy...' opinion only matters to those on a budget.

But the wow factors in life still belong to Europe. I do get what you mean though. However just because they are rich doesn't mean they don't set budgets on cars. Rich people are only rich because they manage their finance right not splurge just to show off. So "for that kind of money" many "rich" folks will go out and buy that European exotic. Not to say they won't buy an LF-A but the LF-A won't be standing alone on that list, because for that money (if you will) there are other options.

Agent46.. It appears that you and I have different perceptions of what a "rich" person is. I'm referring to "rich" folks who have and know no limit, you're referring to one who is not really in the "rich" category but more so well off. Of course you might argue that Warren Buffet is "rich", but I'm not too sure Warren really cares what his vehicle of choice really says about him. Whereas I'm referring to the Jay Leno's and these Oil Company exec's from Texas that like to take their cars swimming (Sarcasm).

"But the wow factors in life still belong to Europe"... What planet are you from??? If and when someone from Europe buys the Lexus, then I hope you and I can agree that the "wow factors" don't entirely belong to Europe. I'm sure there are Europeans that are driving around in a GT-R as well as maybe even a Mustang.

What's being missed here is that the car is overpriced for what it is. Exclusivity is hardly an excuse as you can always limit production. Lemonade: budget does matter because the target audience is not the same as, say, the Veyron's. Someone with an annual income of over $2mil can conceivably afford the car, so opportunity cost will come into play. And no one's foolish enough to mention bang for the buck - otherwise, we'd be talking about ZR1s and GT-R V-Specs and not Italian exotics.

cuz americans want to look rich but aren't really and use the whole "i can write it off" as an excuse pretending to be business man but reality is they pretend to be well off.

The car will sell (or lease or whatever the case may be). That's really all we need to know.
