2011? interesting. a bit early to be releasing information on the car, given the possible inflation and currency exchange rates.

so it's priced between the 750 and the 760 and offers performance between the two as well. Pretty much exactly as expected. Since BMW is using the hybrid system as a performance enhancer, oddly enough its most direct competitor in terms of price and performance appear to be the Mercedes S63 AMG and Jaguar XJ Supersport. Should make for an interesting comparison.

Well I guess it's priced less than the Lexus at $108,800.

Rob... S63 "...direct competitor in terms of price..." ??? C'mon man, I know you know a little more about pricing than that... Its 30K cheaper... S550 maybe, but S63 that starts at 133K?

the 750Li hybrid tops out at $123k. I never said the Benz wouldn't cost more, the S-class always does. But it's the closest thing in the Benz lineup.

Lexus gets more MPG, with similar performance and a lot more standard features...not to mention that the LS looks a lot better than the new 7

Do I still choose the BMW for the tickle-your a$$ feel? ;)

"similar performance"

0-60
Lexus LS 600l h 5.5 Seconds
BMW 7er 4.8 Seconds

You want to make a bet on handling.

Not really that close.

Lexus cars never achieve their factory claimed 0-60 times. They're overrated by Lexus themselves most of the time.

BMW on the other hand...

well, this should send LS600h sales from low to even lower....

come on guys lets get real hybrids are a waste of money. less performance then the regular 750 at 25k more. most people i know lease this type of car save the 25k and buy the gas. you will have to have the car 5 years to even break even on gas prices. so in conclusion you will save money and not having a battery will save the enviroment. beacuase as was proven by the email hacks globull warming was a big time hoax. oh but if you only listen to the main stream media you wont even know what i am talking about with the emails and globull warming.

whether you believe in global warming or not, everything you just said in relation to this particular car is wrong. Because it comes with a lot of things standard, the hybrid 7 is about $10k more than a regular 750, not $25k. It also outperforms the regular 750, and does get better fuel economy.

The "you have to own it foreer for the gas savings to pay for the hybrid cost" argument is stupid with cars like this. People buying $100k+ vehicles are not buying them because of the gas savings -- anyone who can afford a $100k luxury cruiser can afford the gas. People will buy the hybrid 7 and pay the 8% cost increase because it's a higher model than the 750 that performs better and has a greener image and also happens to get better fuel economy. They're not buying it just because of the 15% boost in fuel economy, they're buying it for everything else that it is, a big part of which is the image. Compared to the LS600h, which neither outperformed the LS460 nor got better fuel economy and cost $30k more than the regular LS, the hybrid 7 is a superior machine. It does everything the LS600h was supposed to do but didn't, and does so at a smaller markup.

it's not $25k more...if you read the article, you'd note that the hybrid has about $12,000 in options on the 750Li as standard equipment. plus it's faster AND more fuel efficient. so there's not exactly a huge premium there.

explain lexus' $30,000 premium for the LS600.
