Fiat may extend the Chrysler brand name to models currently sold as Lancias
In a move that has stunned the auto industry, Fiat S.p.A. plans for models currently sold as Lancias in Europe into having the Chrysler brand name starting as early as 2011. It came as a surprise since it had been speculated that the 103-year-old Lancia would have a greater role in Europe following Fiat’s decision earlier this year to take control of Chrysler.

Fiat has a 20% stake in Chrysler. Last month, Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne told Automotive News Europe that he has no doubts that it would be Chrysler that would be the global brand, outside a limited number of markets in Europe.

Like Chrysler said in their presentation, the similarities between Lancia an Chrysler are really strange - from past to present in the form of both mechanical reliability and design. aha Top Gear's last episode even called Lancia the best automaker, despite...

As long the cars look good, I honestly don't mind. It's not like they're gonna be top dog in terms of quality and reliability overnight.
I realize that Chrysler promised to be the top dog in the near future.

Lancia's history is far richer than that of Chrysler's but Fiat's rebadging them for that Lancia nameplate, how sad. Chrysler has dont nothing for the automotive world. Lancia's won rally's and beat out the Quattro's! Chrysler just broke down on the side of the road.

Agent63 theman440 is correct. You have no idea of chryslers history. Chryslers History trumps that of fiat Its not just about rally racing. Your comment it laughable.

Also, Chryslers History, accomplishments, and firsts in the auto industry trumps anything Lancia ever did. That is not my opinion Just Fact
