2010 Hyundai Tucson continues the evolving of the brand’s line-up. Presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2009, the re-styled CUV now offers even more space, economy and technology. Undoubtedly, its visual styling carries the company’s modern “Fluidic Sculpture” design language.
The sleek Tucson benefits from Hyundai’s advanced weight saving technology and the eco-efficient Theta II 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine delivering up to 31 mpg on the highway. Thanks to Hyundai’s first panoramic sunroof, the new Tucson offers open interior and excellent visibility. New to the re-engineered CUV are also the Downhill Brake Control (DBC), Hillstart Assist Control (HAC), touch-screen navigation unit and the Bluetooth® hands-free phone system.
The urban cruiser’s athletic body ensures great stance and road presence, its flowing lines and aggressive car-like appearance demonstrates a high-end vehicle oriented to the younger generation. The Tucson’s exterior is also complemented by a set of Euroflange 18-inch alloy wheels.
More responsive steering and agile handling is achieved through a MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension systems, coil springs and fade-resistant gas-charged dampers, and a Rack-and-pinion Motor-Driven Power Steering (MDPS) unit.
The Theta II engine fitted in the 2010 Tucson is far more powerful than its predecessor, connected to a six-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC® manual control or a standard six-speed manual transaxle, it produces 176 horsepower and 168 lb.-ft. of torque.
2010 Tucson will be remembered as the first Hyundai Crossover Utility Vehicle designed and engineered in Europe at Hyundai’s Frankfurt-based design and technical centers. The sales will start later this month.
