A Face Only A Mother Could Love: Next Gen Cayenne Loses Cammo And Scares the Heck Out Of Us
The Porsche Cayenne is bucking the trend for larger and heavier cars. These spy pictures reveal the next evolution of the popular SUV will be smaller and lighter than its predecessor.

Hoping to integrate the Cayenne more seamlessly into the Porsche line-up, the German firm are looking to do away with much of the bulky off-road equipment to make the new car more driver focused.

Based on the next-generation platform used in the VW Touareg and Audi Q7, the new Cayenne will be 40mm shorter and 20mm lower than the old model. Other styling updates obvious from these shots are a higher waistline and a new set of LED daytime running lights.

It looks like a cross between an FX and a Q5 odd styling direction for what will be a very expensive SUV

I thinking they were going to go in a somewhat different direction with the next Cayenne. I guess it's not much Porsche can do with the Touareg/Q7 platform to truly "guisey" it up a bit.

In my mind, I was thinking that Porsche was going to make the next Cayenne smaller --- maybe use a modified version of the Q5 --- for a lower center of gravity and to make better use of the smaller engines.

I'm Chinese. Do I sense some racism?

While I am not proud of the Chinese people overseas doing the things they do. Food for thought for folks here. Some of the bootleg goods they make (cell phones, flashlights, etc) have known to be better than the original product they were trying to clone. That's quite sad.

Anyways, I don't like the looks of this Cayenne. Just drop the model and focus on sports cars, how it's suppose to be!.

There was nothing racist about his comment...in fact your post validates his point, confirming that they often rip off other designs, which is kinda what this new cayenne looks like. A knock-off.

this is going in the wrong direction when it comes to design.

Hard to make the Cayenne design any worse that it already is, but I guess they succeeded in doing so.

I think it looks better than the current one.The headlights and tailights still have camo on them, but I like what i see so far.I'm just not feeling the wheel gap in the front.

The rear looks a LOT like the current Lexus RX, especially the spoiler/lip on top of the rear windshield and the shape of the rear window.

B7FAN: I agree with you, it looks japanese, Chinese or even Korean. Why all german companies are doing cars so ugly. the list goes on..Cayene, SLS, 7 Series, 5GT, Now I see the X6 and I think it is beautiful if you put it sisde by side with this quasimodo. Beisde that it looks too small.

Nah, it's not hideous. I don't particularly care for it, but there are a LOT worse designs than this... by far!!!

Aside from the front bumper it's an improvement over the last gen, which hopefully is changed before production.

It's a little bland, but I'm sure they'll manage to make the Turbo / Turbo S version looking mean enough.
But it's still a big SUV, nobody can do miracle designing a rolling bungalow.

I really like the current model but already stopped into the dealership (westmont porsche in Chicago) to find out when the order books would open for this. My wife wants a Porsche which is a little more practical than mine....this IS the answer.

Holy Mother of God (faints)

(...after revival)
That looks shyteous! Is it their goal to purposely make a homely vehicle?

Fromt he rear the profile looks like an RX.

Who else agrees with me that Porsche needs to be banned from designing new cars? (Well, they call them new, but each generation looks like the one before it). C'mon, be brave enough to admit Porsche designers suck at creating anything innovative. And I don't want to hear the "people who buy them love their classic look" bs because guess what? The sales are way down!
