Is THIS What The A8 Should Have Looked Like? Audi's CLS Competitor Set To Appear In Late 2010
With the auto industry looming over any news about the long-anticipated A7, a new headline broke about the upcoming A7.

Is THIS what you want to see coming out of Audi?

If you take a look at the concept from last year's Detroit Auto Show, you can already see a lot of the interior design fittings and details being put into the latest 2011 A8.

Autozeitung.de reports:

"With the study Sportback Concept, Audi is providing a preview of the upcoming Series A7, to close the gap between the A6 and A8 sedans. The market launch of the Audi A7 is scheduled for late 2010

At the Los Angeles Auto Show, Audi showed extreme confidence for the coming year and presented the audience the latest study from Ingolstadt, the electric eTron.

What the general public in Los Angeles was not told, was the news that Audi, which presented the Sportback Concept at the NAIAS 2009 in Detroit, wants to produce the car in full series as early as next year.

The new Audi A7 will be heavily guided by the Sportback Concept and is expected to come by the end of next year. This is confirmed by the developer of the company during test runs of the study in Los Angeles."

The 2011 Audi A8 is perfect.

The car in the photo does not look that good to me.

Looks too flat and wide.

Although the 2011 A8 is handsome, after looking at it time and time again it just did not seem to evolve enough - on the exterior.

OK I am reversing what I said about this Audi concept.

I saw more photos and I didn't realize this is the Audi A7 concept.

It's amazing.

maybe it's just me but i don't care for the look of this car along with the cls and the passat cc. not a huge fan of the 4 door coupe.

Looking great (minus the grille) and much better than new A8.

There is nothing "NEW" about the new A8. This looks better.

I think the new A8 looks handsome and classy in an extremely conservative sort of way. If we look back the last generation A8 was also considered very conservative and almost boring (like most cars in this class from a design POV) in terms of design, but it managed to look fresh and elegant, dynamic and classy at the same time. The new A8 retains some of those traits IMO, especially the elegant and dynamic qualities, but it also lost some of those classy and fresh qualities its predecessor had.

After listening to the Chairman of Audi for the past several years I was expecting something very special in the 2011 A8. Maybe the expectations were set too high, but the resulting A8 is "just" classy, handsome, and conservative, but NOT what I was anticipating. The current A8 stands out - the new A8 doesn't.

If the A7 looks exactly like this, the second generation CLS is in trouble.

If the A8 looks like that, then when the A7 comes out and looks similar, everyone is going to say the A7 is bland and just another reiteration of the A8, so no, the A8 should not look like it.

the grille should be modified. right now, it looks awkward and wrecks the image. other than that, i think it looks good..

The Audi Chairman in a recent interview stated that the upcoming A7 will look like the concept because the buyers in this category are more open to change and styles. Also, he stated that buyers in the luxury sedan class such as the A8 tend to be conservative and do not like aggressive designs, hence the evolution of the A8. However, in person I think the A8 exterior will be quite dramatic as this is a big car.

Looks like something off the set of Star Trek. I'll leave it to you to decide if that is good or bad...
