SPIED: Mercedes's Latest CLS Interior EXPOSED

The Mercedes-Benz CLS ignited the four-door coupe market when it was first introduced back in 2004, and since then we’ve seen several other luxury rivals attempt to emulate the design with cars like the 2010 Porsche Panamera, recently revealed 2010 Aston Martin Rapide and upcoming Audi A7.

Now, prototypes for Mercedes’ next-generation CLS has been spotted, revealing a few subtle clues about the new model. The latest shots show off the interior of the car, revealing a design very similar to that seen on the lower positioned E-Class...

What's up with Mercedes? Their interiors aren't as "welcoming" as they used to be. (Except the S and CL)

+1 I am not sure how it would make sense to go from the current CLS' interior to THIS.

Interior looks like a squared copy off BMW interior. I prefer the retractable center Display cause I have Childrens.

Looks good.

I can't wait to drive the new CLS.

That looks exactly like E class interior and that's not very good. Very boxy and crude-looking.

Crude? Did you just call the E-Class interior "crude"? What are you smoking? Most Mercedes interiors focus on simplistic elegance and conservative design. But they are far from "crude".

Don't get me started on those overrated Lexus interiors and their awful designs...

Wimmer,

Can you ever stay on topic?

Mercedes continues to under perform when it comes to interiors and it looks like this CLS is no exception. Even the S-Class needs a $1350 upgrade for "better" leather, so what would you expect in a car that "only" costs $75,000? Audi has understood what an interior should look like in a German luxury car, but MB acts like it's not an issue.

taken straight from the E class coupe

I think the next CLS will look amazing from the exterior, but from the inside it will be mediocre at best...You simply cannot take a sedan interior like the E class and place it in a 4 door coupe like the CLS. Mercedes figured that out the first time around what happened this time?

The old car's interior was extremely nice. It reminded me of the fintail Mercs from the 60s. Too bad it's gone.

I said crude-looking not that the interior is crude. I have driven new E class and the interior materials are soft but the design is too boxy and got too many sharp edges, not very smooth shapes, same is true for C class.

Agreed. Nobody is doubting the materials, the interiors just don't flow anymore (sans the S and CL).
